Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hey guys, I'm new around here, looking for some help. I have a 2009 Ford Focus Mk2.5 Zetec s/s 1.8. Had it since November, there's about 62000 miles on the clock. Recently noticed a grinding/grating noise when braking heavily on low traction surfaces. It's not a normal ABS sound, I'm fairly confident what ABS activation sounds like. I thought at first it may be the ABS malfunctioning, but I've also noticed on a few occasions the same sound with a bit of wheel spin, but not every time. So it seems it's more associated with losing traction than just heavy braking. Here's a dash cam video where you can hear the sound: Any ideas/help with what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks,
  2. anybody had this problem? failed its mot on abs and traction control light on the dash. fault code said osf sensor short to earth and was reading that ths osf wheel is doing 158mph while stationary!!
  3. Hi, so I have an 06 Fiesta Zetec 1.4 diesel. In recent months I have noticed that I will be driving along and sometimes when I change gear/brake/set off the abs and handbrake lights quickly flash on, along with this, sometimes the radio turns on and off as well. I have had the car for years, had the MOT a few weeks ago, they found no errors etc. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has any troubleshooting tips? Thanks, Ravi
  4. Hello all. New to the forum so I hope this has been posted correctly. I have a Mk 2 2005 Focus Estate 1.6 Auto Ghia. A few weeks ago the ABS warning light came on whilst driving. It was intermitent for a few days but eventually remained on all the time. I took it to National Tyres who plugged it in and told me I had a fault on both front sensors and the near side rear sensor. I have had the car since 2008 and put 55000 miles on the clock. In that time Ihave replaced both front wheel bearings and the rear near side one. (Not sure if this coincidence or not) These have been done by a family friend who is an excellent mechanic. I purchased three new sensors and my mechanic went about changing them. When he replaced the front nearside sensor he noticed that the excitor ring was in 3 pieces. As these come as part of a hub / bearing kit I purchased a new hub and this was fitted along with a new sensor. The front offside hub looked okay so only the sensor was replaced. The rear nearside hub is a sealed unit and less than 2 years old only the sensor was replaced. Having completed the work the ABS light came on as normal and then went out after a few seconds. However at 20 mph it came back on. Switching the engine off and turning back on again the ABS light remains on. At approximately 10-15mph it goes out however as soon as I brake the ABS kicks in. At approx 20mph ABS light comes on and the brakes work normally. Light then stays on until I turn I turn off the engine and it repeats the above cycle. Do I need the faults completely cleared? I'm thinking of changing the offside bearing to see if that helps as it seems to me that the new sensor is picking up that a wheel is not moving (incorrectly) when others are. As it is a new sensor and as I had issues with a similar aged hub in the nearside I was thinking that there maybe a similar fault with that hub/excitor ring after all. Has anyone had similar issues or any other ideas? Apologies for the long post but it is turning into a saga. Should have said, my mechnic does not have the diagoistic computers. Thanks in advance.

  6. Hello. Can anybody help, The speedometer and milage display doesn't wrk on my fiesta, the abs, engine management light is on and the brake system light is on. The mileage can be read until diving off. I have recently had a driver side front wheel bearing changed, and the abs sensor (same side) changed. Odb2 code comes up p0500, vehicle speed sensor A. Where/what is sensor A? Thanks....
  7. Hi I'm have a problem with my fiesta the abs comes on when I'm drive. I don't have to touch the brakes it just comes on I can hear it and feel it when I brake. When I first drive the car it's fine for a mile then it comes on. The abs light comes on and stays on sometimes which stops the abs and sometimes the light doesn't come on and the abs keep going. I need help to know what it could be. Abs sensor, module or lose conection. Thanks
  8. ESP?

any one know how much it would cost to add Full ESP to my mk1 Ford Focus 1.8 Thank you
  9. ABS Module Failure

I have a 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Edge and the ABS Module has failed. I have had various quotes to have it repaired from £700 - £1100. As it is now an old car I was considering buying a used ABS module from a car salvage and recycled parts company, which would work out a lot cheaper. I would like to know which ABS Module I would need for my car or are they all the same? Thanks
  10. Hi, I have no 12 volt to the OS rear ABS sensor. Does anyone know if the loom goes back to the control box via the under dash fuse box or do I have to strip the battery out and do a through check from the pins on the unit? 12volt is present on other wheels.
  11. ABS and Traction Control lights have just come on, breaks work fine as normal, any idea why this would have happened? Its a 2014 plate so i'm sure it is still under warranty. Any pointers in the right direction would be great. Thanks
  12. Hello I am having probkems with my focus 2003 1.8 diesel. I was driving and all of a sudden the brake pedal dropped to the floor. I had a quick check around and no visible signs of a leak. Discs all round so no wheel cylinders to leak. Front pads were in a bad way so i changed them. The pedal is solid when pumped with the engine off but when started the pedal just falls to the floor. I have been trying to find the issue for a few days now through checking the braking system and various forums as i have swapped the master cylinder and servo. I have also swapped the abs pump and rebled the system twice. I am unsure if the abs pump needs a special tool to bleed. I am now running out of ideas.
  13. Abs Light

Hi, new here but hopefully someone might be able to help. I have a ford fusion 1.4 tdci 2005 which has been extremely reliable but today the ABS light has come on, I've checked all the wires to the sensors but they appear fine but I did notice that there is a green 2 pin connector that appears to have become unplugged. It's from the main wiring harness, between the bulkhead and the engine near enough central but I can't find where it should be plugged into. Is this part of the abs? And if so where should it be connected to? Thanks in advance
  14. Abs Module C1095 Error

Hi. I have a 2006 1.4 fiesta that has just developed an ABS problem. DTC C1095 (ABS Hydraulic Pump Motor Circuit Failure) — Sets when the ABS module detects an open circuit, a short to voltage or ground or a defective internal power transistor during normal operation or the ABS module self-test.The garage said that the module was more likely the problem. So £100 second hand unit acquired, fitted and I still have the same error and cannot clear it. The fuse is ok, the pump module is changed, that only seems to leave the wiring. after all the aggravation and cost I have had, I'm so not bother about having ABS. Does anyone know what wire could be at fault or how to permanently disable the dashboard ABS light?
  15. Possibly Abs Module?? 2010 Fiesta

So I'm driving down the road about 30mph and my power steering stopped and the.. ABS, engine management, stability control and power steering lights came on any ideas!?

  17. Greetings oh wise ones. Having had the car hooked up (focus mk1 zetec 2.0 esp) to diagnostic the codes c1281 and c1282 have been returned. The blurb with c1281 is saying "Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Failure" may be cause by "open circuit, short circuit, sensor previously disconnected sensor, sensor supply voltage out of range finally limits, sensor or finally damaged or contaminated connector" The blurb with c1282 is saying "Code sent when the signal from the sensor is inconsistant with vehicle position, loose or improperly installed sensor, sensor, sensor internal hardware failure" Sensors for ABS have been checked and even cleaned but not solved the problem. If it is the Lateral Accelerometer sensor EXACTLY where is it located on/in the car as online a few mentions are that it is located under the drivers seat (assuming the car is RHD that is) but a look with a borescope cant see it even with looking on both sides of the car under the carpet etc. Or does anyone know what else it could be? Aircon not working either as light comes on but no cooler despite regassing and numerous testings. Does anyone know if even wheel allignment could be an issue causing the trouble. the ESP light has been on well over a year now but did vanish for about 5 minutes but came back on after parking up for shopping. Cheers for any help supplied.
  18. Intermittent Abs Problem

Hi I have a Fiesta 05 plate and the ABS light keeps coming on intermittently. Sometimes it clears itself when you get to about 10mph then next time you drive it its back on before you turn a wheel. The 30 amp fuse blew before, I replaced that and it was fine for a bit. The speedo still works fine so doesn’t seem like the normal ABS module problems. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be before I fork out for the diagnostic checks? Could it be the pump? Ta Jim
  19. Hi, first of all, sorry my first post is a cry for help. I'm a little stuck trying to fix my friends fusion, getting a "Cannot communicate with ABS module" and "Incorrect odometer reading" error messages. The odometer won't display vehicle speed and there is no trip/milage data displayed, just ---- (engine management and ABS lights are on) I'll start from the beginning, I was wiring a gas conversion kit for a friend, struggling to feed a wire through the rubber grommet from under the bonnet to behind the glove box. My friend said try drilling a hole separate from the loom, the drill slipped and went into the loom (the battery was still connected and something shorted out) I told him to disconnect the battery which he did and i then repaired the 2 broken wires and insulated the several damaged ones. He drove it that evening and didn't notice anything odd. However, the following day he noticed the symptoms described above. I checked all the fuses behind the glove box with a multimeter and re-checked the loom for breaks. I then noticed one of the wires that was cut (green and yellow) went to the ABS module and was on the non-fused side. My friend got someone out to diagnose it, who said the ABS module was fried. we replaced the module with a second hand one, reset the engine management light and still got the same code back U0121 lost communication with ABS module I then checked the voltages to the block (pin 1 and 14 constant live ok, pin 20 switched live and pin 26 ground both ok) Would someone be able to help me with this? how do i check the CAN wires? I read that you have to disconnect the battery, then check for resistance <5ohms between pin 6 of the OBD port to pin 12 (white/blue wire) and pin 14 of the OBD port to pin 13 abs (white wire) the pin info on the ABS side was incorrect so i went off the wire colours and didn't get a reading, could someone confirm this? the white and white/blue wired weren't damaged. Sorry for the long post, just tried to give as much detail as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Mike
  20. Hi Been experiencing intermittent flashing of the traction control light for a few weeks now. Would anyone have any idea what could be causing the traction light to flash intermittently? As well as that i'm experiencing a vibration like noise when I go over a hump or rough patch of road and sometimes a juddering sensation when I apply the brakes. Could it be the wheel bearings or abs sensors? Thanks
  21. Hi I've been experiencing abs and traction control lights coming on intermittently with a juddering sensation when I apply the brakes. I think this is down to the ABS reluctor ring which may need changing, however could anyone tell me where I can source a replacement ring for the front hubs? I've been searching online but come across rings for the rear only. Thanks
  22. Currently got a problem with my 2003 ST220 6 Speed. Had it in the garage to change my front nearside wheel bearing, however the drive shaft is stuck in the hub and it couldn't be removed with a 60 tonne press. Basically having to get a new driveshaft, and front hub with the carrier knuckle. Two questions; 1. Where do you buy a new hub carrier knuckle?? Nowhere seems to stock them. All parts places just sell the hub, no carrier. 2. Are all Mondeo hubs the same across the range? Found a hub on ebay for £22 with the carrier knuckle and ABS sensor, but it doesn't specify which model. Thanks in advance.
  23. Abs Error

Hi, I m new to this forum, I browsed a couple of threads and it seems that you guys know your cars :) I have a problem with my MK5 fiesta was hoping you guys could help me... I have been hearing strange whirring noises coming from the back of my car when I release the handbrake and drive off. This only happens if the car has been parked for a couple of hours. the same noise also started happening when I press the brakes. and the brakes would sort of slip and the car would not stop as normal I took it to my mechanic and he suspected that the rear break mechanism is faulty so he checked the handbrake cables and changed the front and rear brakes. This did not help with the problem so I booked my car with another mechanic but today the abs button lighted up and the noise stopped happening. I'm thinking that the problem is with the ABS motor pump? Also the ABS would not work but that would be obvious since the alarm light is on... I already had allot of trouble with m alternator recently, had to buy a new one, I'm hoping that this would not be \s expensive as that...
  24. Clunking Nosie From Engine

I have a 2009 Focus 1.6 Titanium petrol manual gear box, the problem I have is there is a clunking noise coming from the front of the car at very low speed 10-15mph,i have took it back to ford dealer who said it is the ABS doing a self check, but my other ford which has ABS does not do this that is a CMax 04. Should this be doing this on the focus, ford garage say yes but it is very strange noise and anything to do with the braking system making strange sound to me is not right even thou it all works ok at the mo. If anyone can shed some light on this sound would be helpful
