  1. Hey, Throwing this out there for anyone who may know. Recently the ac & recirculate buttons on my focus (2012 Mk3) stopped working. They usually light up when pressed, but no light and no function. Fans work fine tho. Checked the fuses (all 3 locations), all looked fine relating to aircon. My mate said the gas might be low; but it;s only been running for 5 years and I have no warning lights. Is that possible? Cheers,

So I got fiesta 1.4 tdci 2003 130k miles real animal when it comes to work, I got blue ish smoke on acceleration, but nothing when at idle and in neutral, oil seals changed, no ticking noise nothing but got hissing noise from engine bay when accelerating, and oil after turbo in air intake don't know what to do, checked for leaks and found nothing, turbo seems fine any suggestions please.     Going for an air intake!

    Hi all! my next mod wants to be an air intake. The problem is i have been reading and reading since weeks and veeeryy confused. First, im not even sure if its good to change the OEM air filter, and if it really gives performance. Then, they are sooo many in market that i dont know which to go for. I have been looking at graham goode, j1, AS, ITG, etc... actually more then an agressive sound im kinda looking at one that gives me more blow off sound (as i got the turbosmart bov installed). And for last! It seems like the best one out its the r-sport stage 3? This one: cheers!!
  4. Hello everyone! I bought a after market spoiler from eBay (I know), it bolt/screws in and was just curious if anyone else has installed one of these. I'm just worried I may hit a wire when drilling into the boot lid. The item I have a 3dr mk6.5 so it seems it will fit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Air box Upgrade

    Hello, I am looking for some information regarding upgrading the lower half of my air box to the ST250 or RS lower air box with the duel (Top & Bottom) air entrances (Picture 1) I have a 2014 Focus 1.0 Zetec S with the single (Top) air entrance (Picture 2) Is this a straight swap? Thanks

    Cold air intake??

    So I just bought a 2006 mk6 fiesta zetec s, and it feels like it may be running a little rougher than usual, I've many opinions and 99% of them had said get a cold air intake. Now I'm bit of an amateur when it comes to upgrades and modifications, but does anyone know of any realiable kits that won't break the bank? Thanks *open to alternate suggestions*

  8. Hi gang, Has anyone had any experience of replacing the stock panel air filter and box on a MK2.1.6TDCI with a cylindrical performance filter like the K&N 57s-4000? I could opt for the box-free cone but I'm much more excited by the idea of the cylinder. I'm mainly wondering if the airbox lid of the K&N would be a direct fit to the existing box, and if any additional piping would be necessary. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance, Sam.
  9. few months ago i changed my fuel filter on my 1.6 tdci focus 09. (econetic), spilt a bit of fuel and then thought i had an odd smell in the cabin when using the air system. kept an eye on that, and that seems all fine theres no sign of a leak and hoses are attached perfectly. ive had this smell a while now and am running out of ideas. today i changed the oil, and i had to remove the air inlet hose to the engine to access the fuel filter, this is attached to the turbo and the air filter housing, and i noticed when i removed it, there was liquid inside it. and it smelt of this smell that ive been getting inside the car when the air is on, you can also smell this odour standing in front of the engine when its running. the odd thing, is this smell only comes into the cabin, when the air is from the outside. when i have the air to be recirculated, the smell doesnt came in. any ideas? ive just read that a possible sign of an EGR being stuck open is a "slight or strong smell of fuel"
  10. Hi guys! very new to this but I'm trying to work out how to put a cold air intake on my fiesta? I have no idea where it would go (not much space under the bonnet) and also that that my air box as it stands is part of my engine cover. I changed the fuel filter about a week ago, but after i primed the fuel filter, i had a spillage of diesel. im not entirely sure but i think i can smell something odd when the heating is on in the car, although the odd smell only begins to appear when the air is hot, when i run it after getting in i dont notice anything until the cabin is warm, theres no funny smell when its cold. my wife seems to think theres nothing different to before, she says it smells like it always has, even though ive asked her to give it a good sniff right infront of the air vents, as its not an overly strong smell, and i did my best to wipe up everything i could see when i had the spillage. so is it possible that some of the fuel i spilt could be in the air system somehow? and can i get rid of it? im not even sure its diesel i can smell myself. If its any help. the car is an 09 ford focus and the fuel filter is located just to the right of the engine, just under the fresh air intake
  12. Hello all, I've recently passed my driving test and got a Fiesta finesse which was registered in 03 I noticed about a week after buying it that a pipe is missing. I took it back to the dealer and they said that was how the car came to them and that It doesn't need the pipe. I'd rather have the pipe so I have been looking online for the part, but I can't find it anywhere.. I have attached some images. The manual says it goes to the air cleaner. Anyone got any ideas?
  13. Hello, I currently have a 2009 ford fiesta 1.6 tdci. Can anyone tell me what part this motor is called that controls the direction of where the air blows in the car. Currently it keeps jumping and turning all the way around to the point where the plastic fixing and metal rod pop off as it catches on another part. Please see picture attached. Many Thanks
  14. Hi People I have the Fiesta 1.6 MK6 Engine in a Ford Fusion 03 . The car Idle always had a fluctuating Idle since I got car earlier this year , the car was purchased with around 50K miles on in March this year; the car is 2003 Fusion 2 model . It had got progressively earlier last month, the Idle suddenly started hitting 2000 RPMS on the colder days , recently it has got worse with the needle now resting quite consistently at 2200 RPM . It seems ok when I put the car in gear and start driving but, it has become very irritating when in traffic . Strangely I can counteract the High revs by using the AC and heaters which drops the idle to around 15000 RPM . Strangley there has been no engine light or codes to give me a better clue This is the first Ford Car I have had and is otherwise a good car . I have been researching causes of this and just wondered if anyone could chime in here or share your experiences : Air intake/Vacum Leak - THought to be most common cause of high idle but, not sure where excatly this could occur or on on which pipes ,there are pipes everywhere, so would like to narrow it down if possible T-MAP Dirty- I am getting some flexidrive tools tomorrow and will remove and clean to see if makes difference , though this is usually thought to make the car revs die down . I had managed to clean the throttle body , it was slightly dirty but ,this did not make any change . If anyone could share their knowlege here it would be much appreciated . IT is getting cold here and might have to start using my Pocket rocket instead

  16. Hi all, When doing a service on my 2007 MK6.5 Fiesta, I noticed some air bubbles in one of the fuel lines. I think they're in the fuel line going towards the high pressure pump. Please see the first attached picture where I've highlighted the bubbles. Obviously the bubbles move through the line when I press the priming bulb, but new bubbles seem to be coming in again. Does anyone know if it is normal for these bubbles to be there? Cheers! Pietr
  17. I bought KA off a housemate. Its done just over 140k. He said it had over heating problems I let the engine run for 20 mins and noticed that the fan did not kick in I replaced the temperature/coolant sensor and now the fan works Then, I drove the car for a 13 miles on local, A roads and motorway. The temperature warning light came on I borrowed an ODBII diagnositics module (ELM 327) which plugs into the inside of the car on the passenger side Then installed a free OBDII compatible app (Torque Lite) on my android phone to monitor the temperature I made the following observations: 1. Fan kicks in at 100 c 2. Temperature warning light comes on at 120 c Once the temperature reached 120 c, I switched on blower/fan heater inside the car on maximum 3. The fan stopped at around 96 c At this point, I switched the engine off to see how quick it would cool down 4. After 30 mins, the temperature went down to 81 c I noticed that the blower blows out hot air even on cold setting. I have not noticed any leaks The coolant level has remained the same Possible fixes ? Flushing the coolant ? Replacing the heater control valve ? Replacing the thermostat / housing ? Any advice on what else I could check before spending any more money or in what order I should do things. Thanking you in advance, Kam
  18. So here is the situation with my car - I am not sure if it is normal or not, so wondering what other people experience. On a cold day (< 10C outside temperature), if I am driving in my car with the recirculation ON, and the temperature dial set to the coldest, and the fan ON (but A/C switched OFF), it begins blow warm/hot air within 10 minutes or less (although it initially starts blowing cold air). If I then turn the temperature dial to the middle, it makes no difference to the temperature of the air being blown out of the vents. Anyone know why this is the case??
  19. So I'm currently torn between getting a simple K&N drop in panel filter, or a Auto Specialists Induction kit. I kno when I come to remap my car I would most likely get more gains with the induction kit. The K&N is around £40, and the induction kit is around £150. Apart from the nice little sound you get when you let off, is it worth spending all that money on an induction kit? Thanks
  20. Right so I want to change my Air Box to an Air filter on my Mk7.5 Fiesta Black Edition 140 - But I have noticed there is a air sensor attached to the unit if i fit an air filter will this cause me any issues if the sensor isn't plugged in? Cheers Ben_140

  22. I recently bought a used Ford Focus 1.8 Diesel (5 Door) and have a couple of questions maybe you guys can help me with. 1. When the car starts it produces quite a lot of white smoke which stops after a minute or two and is not present when I rev the engine. However, when I stop the car and get out I do notice a strong diesel smell. There is no ticking from the engine when I turn it off and the car seems to drive fine so I am not sure what the problem is. 2. The throttle seems to be a little on the dull side. As I said above the car does seems to drive fine but something just doesn't feel right about the throttle - I have driven many turbo diesels in the past and they had a bit of punch to them when you put your foot down - whereas the Focus does respond it just doesn't seem very aggressive. 3. A couple of mornings ago (it was very cold just above freezing) I started the engine and it was ticking over fine but when I put it in gear and tried to reverse out of my parking spot the throttle simply didn't respond at all. The engine was still running and ticking over fine but nothing from the throttle. Within 10 seconds it was working fine but it was totally dead for those first 10 seconds. 4. When I have the vents on to clear the windscreen, the passenger side clears very quickly but the drivers side takes an age - is there an easy way to check if the fan is broken? I am going to book it into a Ford Center for a winter service next week and will ask them about these other issues as well - but as you know these places can often charge a fortune for things which actually don't need doing so I was just hoping to get some sort of idea of possible issues before I take it in. Also does anyone know of a device which will allow me to read ECU codes to give me some more indication of the problems and also a resource for explaining what the codes mean? I am thinking the problems could be something to do with the injectors - I also thought perhaps the head gasket but I have been told that usually there would be some ticking sound when the engine is turned off if the gasket was the problem. If it is the head gasket how difficult is it to change yourself - I know a garage will charge a small fortune for doing it so if it is not so difficult I would consider doing it myself. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

    Mk5 Heat Problem

    I've heard and read that fiesta MK4 and MK5s can have a heat problem with either hot or cold constantly feeding through and not being able to change the temperature. Mine is doing the exact same. It's feeding through constant hot air. After having read a solution, I thought it could be a thermostat problem. The guy I bought the car from told me he'd already changed that not so long before I bought the car and it was bought in March. I then read it could be a heater control valve problem. I changed the heater control valve and it worked! For a day or two... No I'm slightly stumped as to what next to look for. I don't believe it could be the matrix. I don't think there is a blockage anywhere otherwise it wouldn't have worked as soon as it was swapped. I'm reluctant to think its the connection as I checked that while swapping over the HCV and it seemed OK. Plus, it wasn't all that long ago. There's definitely no Leaks. The head gasket hasn't gone and its not on its way out. A few people had mentioned the heater control panel might be an issue. The fans are working on all settings but there's no wires running from the temperature knob. It's all running from the fan switch, the bottom of the PCB board and the 12v power supply. I don't think it could be the HCP neither becauxe it was working g when the HCV was swapped over. And I'm sure the wiring is normal anyhow. Has anyone got any ideas? I've searched all over this forum and I can't seem to find the answer. I'd rather not take it tons mechanic and part with my money haha. Thanks guys.
  24. Hi all I am new to this Forum. My Ford Focus has been sick recently with the most recent issue being swooshing sound coming from engine when accelerating. Anyway I found a 2 inch split in the induction pipe between air box and engine. This must be the cause of the swoosh sound. However, there is some loss of power, probably by 20%. Would this split be the likely cause of the power loss too? I have put tape over the split which has helped the swooshing sound a bit but not completely. I am getting a new part on Saturday from Ford and will get it fitted next week. I have no engine light but: Should I check for error codes once new part fitted? I am not sure whether any sensors would have picked up the air leak and caused the car to go into some kind of safe mode? Or should the new induction pipe fix performance issue? How would I know if car has gone into limp home mode? How do I get it out of that mode if it has? Many thanks Colin
  25. Hi, I was looking through the Euro Car Parts website to get a full set of filters - there seems to be a sale on at the moment as everyting looks to be reduced, but not sure how genuine that is. I normally just take what I get given over the counter at the local motor factors, but EuroCarParts have a wide range of different makes such as Crossland, Bosch and Mann. Is there much of a difference between them in terms of quality to justify the price differences or are they all much of a muchness? I see some people saying to buy quality, but its not obvious what is quality and what isn't just from awebsite. For info, I try to change the oil at least every 10k miles and clean out the air filter between changes.
