    Brake Fluid re-fill

Hi, Just checked my oil and noticed the brake fluid container hidden at the back under the windscreen was low. It's very close, if not on the Min line. Brakes, clutch etc still running/feeling fine and no lights! I've downloaded a Focus manual but not 100% its correct for the UK spec as it has a lot of US references. Does anyone know what type/level/grade of brake fluid I'll need for a 06 plate MK2 1.6 petrol Focus LX. Thanks!
  2. Hi guys, Got out the car today to a strange smell. At first i thought i'd burnt the clutch but narrowed the strong smell down to front o/s brake area. On touching the disc it was wet. And i noticed braking had a felt a little strange earlier in the day. Am i right in thinking this is brake fluid leaking due to a worn out seal in the caliper? New caliper job? And if so, can anyone give some hints and tips on where to source a caliper cheaply, and any practical tips on changing it over? I have a 40 mile round trip to do tomorrow. Is i t ok to drive like this? Brake fluid level is above minimum in the reservoir with no drastic loss. Thanks in advance!
  3. When I'm coming to a stop and I press my brake pedal it makes a squeak sound but when I come of the pedal it's even louder, when I'm just driving along to slow down, it's doesn't make any noise, only when the pedal travels as far as it can go without being forceful. not sure if my brake fluid needs changing, any suggestions are appreciated.
  4. Hi im new to this forum so i hope this thread is ok, my sons ford focus mk2 was hit while parked, causing damage to n/s wing, bumper. headlight, bonnet, ive have replaced bonnet, wing, headlight, bumper, front panel, crossmember, battery, only to find dipped beam on ns headlight not working, had to replace internal fusebox (long story ) headlight now working, only problem is since accident there was a warning in the dash display saying warning low brakefluid, low washer fluid, and the red brake warning light just to the right of dash. i have replaced the pads discs are fine and the brakefluid and washer fluid are spot on, What can it be is there a brake sensor or washer fluid sensor, im now loosing the will to live. ive spent a fare bit so need to sort this any help would be great, thanks in advance. kevin.
  5. Hi all, About 3 months ago I bought my first daily / personal Ford, a 2008 Focus 1.6 Petrol, and it had 58348 miles on the clock (i've also got a Ford Puma, but that's being kitted out for rallying). It's now on roughly 61350, and am just wandering how often does this vehicle need servicing to your experiences. I want to keep on top of it, but don't want to be servicing every so often, as the manual describes when I don't need too. Just things like Oil change and filter, cambelt / timing belt change, brake fluid, etc. Some of it I can do myself, with mates pitching on the rest, like i've done with my previous cars. It had a service when bought, but does anything really need changing at 3k miles?? If not, at every how many miles should it get serviced. I tend to do a lot of miles in my cars and average 19k - 21k a year. Thanks in advance for any help, advice, tips and hints provided!

    Brake Fluid Levels Empty/low

I just noticed that the brake/clutch fluid resevoir in my S-Max was pretty much empty, i.e. below the Min line. I thought that this is kind of strange, as it was serviced 4 months ago and definitely had a full top up. So I'm not sure what happened in between those two times. I am pretty sure that it was ok maybe a month ago. When I drive the car, it all seems normal so this is rather strange. On consulting the manual, it says to have it checked out asap, rather than just advising you to top it up which would have been sort of the instinctive thing to do. Wondering if something else is amiss that I should be concerned with? Any advice appreciated.
