    Brake Calipers

Morning everyone, I am currently planning on changing my brake callipers and have them bright red. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells these pre-painted? I can't say I'd be very good with a spray can and I can't seem to find anywhere that offers them with the red finish. Thanks!

    Brake Servo Replacement

Hi All, I posted this in the wrong section I think, so I'm reposting here, hope thats ok... Long time lurker, first time poster and I wondered if anyone new about replacing brake servo motors? I have a 2007 Ford Focus Diesel 1.8 and I have a leak in the servo motor for the brakes. Has anyone got experience fixing this and if so, do you know: 1. How hard do you think it is to fix .i.e at home? 2. Can you do it without specialist tools? I actually have a loss of vacuum pressure when pressing the brakes and an audible hiss coming from the footwell, so I'm assuming its a new Brake Servo. I'm reading my Haynes Manual and it could be the non-return valve. Are there any common problems with this do you know? Thanks for the help! Adam

  5. Evening all, having spent the last 2 hours looking everywhere and watching several YouTube videos and I've come up blank does anyone out there have the definitive answer for what the torque settings are for a 2015 mk3.5 focus 1.0 ecoboost 125ps UK spec front and rear calipers and caliper carriers please! Need to do discs and pads on mine but don't want to start if I can't put it back together right Many thanks
  6. Is this possible? How expensive is it? Has anyone done it? Cheers

    Zetec S > St Calipers

Hello, I have a 2010 1.6 Tivct Fiesta, I have been told that ST calipers are a straight fit, but which ST, MK7 or mk6? If anyone knows the part numbers that would help Thanks,
  8. Hi all, I have just had my front discs and pads replaced and was wondering if they need to be broken in? Car is a 2013 manual Ford Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost Titanium X and OE parts were used. If they do need to be broken in what is the procedure? Best regards, TheScoobyCollector.
  9. Had an issue with inconsistent braking for the last two months on my Ford Fiesta Zetec. One minute the brake pedal is firm the next it goes to the floor. Car passed its MOT last week and I mentioned that the brakes were not right. Prior to this we replaced the Master cylinder on the car and I’ve had the brake fluid changed and the pads and general braking checked by Halfords. Anybody else had this or know wheat to try next?
  10. Hey guys, I'm new around here, looking for some help. I have a 2009 Ford Focus Mk2.5 Zetec s/s 1.8. Had it since November, there's about 62000 miles on the clock. Recently noticed a grinding/grating noise when braking heavily on low traction surfaces. It's not a normal ABS sound, I'm fairly confident what ABS activation sounds like. I thought at first it may be the ABS malfunctioning, but I've also noticed on a few occasions the same sound with a bit of wheel spin, but not every time. So it seems it's more associated with losing traction than just heavy braking. Here's a dash cam video where you can hear the sound: Any ideas/help with what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks,

    focus mk1 brake problem

Brake problem I bought a 2002 MK1 ford focus 10 months ago for £500 with 12 months MOT. I drove the car from Lands End to John o’ groats and back again, starting and ending in Stratford-upon-avon. The only problem I had was with the glove box light that stayed on all night and nearly gave me a flat battery, so in anger I pulled the switch and bulb out. My fault, I left the glove box open. Towards the end of my journey, one of the front brake pads had worn right down more than the others because the brake disc was abrasive on the outer edge. I bought and fitted a new set of brake discs and pads for £45, and new brake slide pins for £20. After fitting the new brakes and bedding them in 100 miles, I noticed that the brakes are binding on a little bit, I was stopped on a gentle incline, I was expecting the car to roll backwards with handbrake off in neutral and it did not because of the brakes. The problem is getting worse, I drove the car about 10 miles without braking and both front wheels are getting very hot symmetrically, back wheels are cold as normal. As the front wheels heat up, the front brakes bind on more and more. It was only possible to drive in up to 3rd gear because so much brake drag. It the problem the brake callipers? Or the master cylinder is blocked up with debris from when I pushed the calliper pistons back in? It looks difficult to change the master cylinder. I tried driving with the brake header tank cap removed, did not fix problem. I think I will try an easy bleed, and blow air and fluid through the brake master cylinder to unblock it and change the brake fluid.
  12. Hi, Does anyone know the size of the washers on the banjo bolt for the brake calliper front left? Should I just buy a new bolt and washer set, I can't seem to find one. Also if anyone knows the size of the hose that fits on the bleed valve that'd be handy. Thanks
  13. Need to book in my Fiesta ST3 for its 3rd service and MOT for March. As I can't order the new ST yet, I'm likely to be keeping/extending the finance on my current ST for the time being. Quoted £235 and £250 by my two nearest Ford dealers for the service and MOT with me supplying the oil (5w20 Oil Castrol Magnatec Professional). I've done just over 22,000 miles so I'm guessing that the brakes are going to need sorting soon. Going on the last service notes, the OEM rear brake pads were at ~9mm and fronts were ~6mm (no idea what the starting mm thickness are). I've not experienced any issues with braking to date so I'm unsure as to leave until the service/mot OR pre-emptively get the parts now. 14. Hi there! I have this problem always with the brakes of my fiesta, when they are almost ending they start making a loud screech noise when coming to full stop. I really hate this, whats the best option for brakes? any other brand or something? also, i would love to have the ¿brake calipers? (sorry im spanish) in red color if its possible and how to get these, because ive read several opinions, like painting them, or changing the whole brake kit of the car. I cant find anything serious about brakes so i would like some personal opinions and help! Thanks!
  15. Help very much required. For the passed 2 weeks almost every day I seem to be having trouble with my car. I have a 2017 ford fiesta zetec 1.0 ecoboost. Sometimes when I am stopped in traffic then go to pull off, as I find the biting point and release the emegency brake the car does not move, even when I apply the accelerator. When I then go to reapply the emergency brake it feels very stiff and won't depress. If I try to move off again it does the same thing. I have to aggressively push the brake a few times to get it to unstick. This has happened a few times specifically when I have released the clutch a bit too fast and twice after the car has been stalled (when it doesn't' ask for a manual restart) but other times it just happens when it's a normal pull off. It is important to say that once the emergency brake has been released in these situations the car does not roll forward or back. I've checked the brake servo to see if something was wrong with that, my brakes aren't spongy and usually just applying the lightest bit of pressure stops the car so I am not sure what is going on. My clutch seems to work fine too, my auto start stop works and I have to push the clutch down to start my engine, I also have no problem with changing gears (beyond the odd occasion where it pops out of reverse but this happened in my instructors car too which is the same model as mine) have tried to Google it but nothing that sounds like this pops up. I would prefer to know what it may be before taking it to the garage. If anyone could please help me with this I would very much appreciate it!

  17. When I'm coming to a stop and I press my brake pedal it makes a squeak sound but when I come of the pedal it's even louder, when I'm just driving along to slow down, it's doesn't make any noise, only when the pedal travels as far as it can go without being forceful. not sure if my brake fluid needs changing, any suggestions are appreciated.
  18. Hi all, hope someone could help with a noise on my ST220. This is the noise I'm talking about. Its coming from both rear wheels, but mostly rear left. Engine is turned off in video. It only starts after the car has travelled over a few miles, and it's more prevalent on a hot day. It doesn't seem to go away when the brakes are pushed, and the noise is tied to car moving speed. I jacked the car up (albeit when cold) and checked the calipers, regreased slide pins, regreased the pads and checked to make sure handbrake was releasing properly. Everything brake wise seemed fine, pads are a couple years old but have LOADS of material left. Discs don't seem warped. Wheels seemed to turn freely. My only other thought is whether it's the hubs. The sound seems like a rubber squealing (or like a squeegee on glass), and the only bits of moving rubber I know of are in the rear hub. Rear left has suddenly got very loud today, and right has slowly started aswell. Any input or opinions are appreciated, and sorry for the long post. Cheers, Tom
  19. Hi all, I need to buy a brake piston wind-back tool. Does anyone know the pitch of the holes in the piston? I've seen the tools on ebay for reasonable monies, but they come n a vast array of sizes. Centres of pins I've seen advertised as "suitable for Ford" are 22mm, 24mm, 25mm, 35mm. Does anyone know the distance between the centres of the holes for Focus Mk2 (2006)? It would save me from having to take it apart to have a look then fail to get it back together cos I can't wind the piston in. Sam.
  20. Hi all, Focus Mk2, 1.8 TDCi Ghia (How do I know if I might have a Mk2.5?) Got an awful dull metallic rattling from the rear drivers side, seems to go away when I brake, doesn't occur with large bumps - mostly just on rough or uneven surfaces, VERY audible from outside the car (people on the street turn to look - embarrassing!). I've secured the heat sheilding and it's not the exhaust - seems to come from the wheel area. I suspect caliper or brake pad rattle, although I can't move anything with my hand when the wheel is off. Couple of questions... Anyone had and solved something similar? Could it be shock absorber or top mount (ex-Ford tech suggested this)? Should my brake pads have anti-rattle shims? Doesn't have them at the moment (I've disassembled the caliper, cleaned, greased and refitted - no difference, or seems to be getting worse.) Do I need these shims, pic attached (or something similar). The caliper retainer spring/clip thinggies were seized in and I suspect the last time the brake pads were replaced (not by me) it was just bent out of the way and bent back again afterwards. Should I replace the spring clips - could it be that? Any help and advice gratefully received. Sam.
  21. Hello all, I am looking for a bit of advice or to see if anyone has had or is having a similar experience with their Mondeo. I bought the car last year and all was well until about 3 months ago when i suddenly heard a very high pitched squealing noise coming from one of the rear wheels, after i had parked it up for a couple of hours and got back in the noise was gone. Now i have noticed that after heavy braking periods the noise will re-appear very subtle just a intermittent squeak as the wheel turns and then it just gets louder and louder until it is a head turning constant hell raising scream, i have also noticed when i exit the car after this event the rear offside wheel is boiling hot. If we have no heavy braking events the car is perfectly fine, over the last 2 weeks i have done several 40-80 mile runs down the motorway with no issues at all, but a quick run to the shops when i had to brake heavily on one occasion set it off again. Things i have noticed: The squeal stops if i slightly touch the brakes or handbrake. Squeal becomes less noticeable while turning left or right. Rear offside wheel, brake disc, and caliper become VERY hot. Stopping the car for a few minutes seems to remedy the issue. Noise will eventually suddenly stop if i continue driving at speed (Motorway). Braking is fine, no grinding, fade or vibrations etc. Things we have tried: New brake pads twice (After several loud squeal events the pads literally turn to charcoal) New Disc New Caliper New handbrake cable We have wondered if it could be the wheel bearing, but would that not cause issues on every single journey? also the car just went through its MOT with no issues at all. Any help greatly appreciated. Nick.

    Best aftermarket website

New to this site so hi everyone. Been looking through the posts and can't find what I'm after so this is the reason for this. I'm looking for a website or brand what basically will cover most parts of the fiesta mk7 2010, I'm just looking at improving all parts including suspension(drop links, anti roll bars, ball joints etc) all components for the brakes. Basically everything except the whole engine and chassis lol, would do a few things to engine but not much as is only a 1.25 zetec. Any help or links would be very much appreciated

    Focus mk1

Hey first post looking for some help please. My car failed mot 2 days ago due to imbalance on rear brakes. Local garage took them apart cleaned them all everything seems fine put back on mot roller and the brakes are still out by 50%. After having a look today i took them of my self no leaks etc etc as they were done 12 months ago. Then i had a look where the brake pedal is and there's a slight weep of fluid could that cause this problem? Any help be greatful
