  1. I sometimes drive my girlfriends ford Ka, and when the car goes past 4000 revs in 5th gear, there is a burning smell which you can smell from the inside of the car, it always happens regardless of the heater setting etc, it's only some 13.000 miles and it's had a couple of services and ford have never come across any issues through their health checks but I was wondering if anyone has this problem and hopefully a fix, or could it be just because the engine is getting pushed too hard. thanks guys in advance
  2. Hi everyone, I'm new here. I recently bought a 2001 Ford Focus 1.6 LX from a used car dealer in my local town roughly 3 months ago. At first I was really happy with the car, but a couple of weeks into ownership I noticed that the oil was being used quite a bit. I thought this was normal for the age of the car but recently it has started using oil at a more alarming rate i.e. half a dipstick a week! which i find to be quite alarming. I was wondering whether I would be fully within my rights to return it to the dealer for a full refund? Tia

Hey guys So I've been trawling through these forums however so many different models / variants are covered it gets somewhat confusing tracking down people who've had similar experience with the same model of car. I have a 2006 Ford Focus MK2 1.6 petrol which is losing oil. About 1 liter every 2k miles (2 months), but this is sporadic. My round commute is 56 miles, mainly dual carriageway miles however even though my driving style is fairly consistent oil loss is not. It won't move for weeks then it'll loose a visible amount in a few days. There is no visible signs of leakage, no obvious blue smoke from the exhaust and so noticeable decrease in power or fuel economy. Is there anything simple I can check before assuming the worst? I've tried looking for the typical PCV valves but can't find the part online or in the engine bay (does the mk2 1.6 petrol focus have a PCV valve?) I've also removed and cleaned the breather hose running from the top of the engine to the air filter assembly (was a little oily but not clogged in anyway) Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just a push in the right direction / a link to another forum post. Thanks!
  4. The driver side center consol is over heating and getting so hot it burns if my leg touches it. The service department said there is no heat shield to protect the the heat coming from the engine. I notice this more when the AC is on. I have a case number from Ford. They say that this is the first they have had complaints but I ha e seen post on the web where others have talked about it. Has nobody else reported this to Ford. I think it is a potential fire hazard
  5. Hi all My wifes 1.8 petrol (2006 Mk2) is drinking oil like there is no tomorrow. She doesn't do too many miles, but the oil level is dropping quite a lot. I am going to top the oil up tonight to find out how low it is, but it is off the stick. I will also monitor mileage and check weekly to help diagnose. Does anyone have any tips on what I should check as a matter of course? I have read the PCV valve may need changing - where is this located? For reference, there are no leaks and no blue smoke either on startup or running. But the CAT would hide a lot of that too I assume. TIA
  6. I have a 2012 Ford Fiesta 1.4 diesel I've been having an issue where I can take my car on a 5 minute drive, which isn't strenuous on the engine at all. The fan keeps coming on and causing my car to have no power or causing the car to shudder when at 30-40mph. I have had a full service on the car had the coolant pipe changed, had the thermostat sensor changed on the engine and still no fix. I'm worried the engine may blow up as I need to give more revs to get the car to pull off the line. When exiting the car you can smell burning. If I let the car sit for 10-20 minutes the fan eventually turns off and power is restored. I'm quite literally at my lowest right now with the car and need some serious advice. The oil levels are fine, my coolant is at max. I've tried showing mechanics the issue, but they can't really see any issues with the car which would cause this.
