  2. Hi All, Quick question that I've failed to find the information on a search of the forums or on the internet - got an issue with my S-Max's thermostat: What temperature does the official Ford thermostat rated to open on a 2.0l Petrol Duratec HE engine 145ps. Other third-party versions seems to be anything from 80C to 92C - confusing! Part number 1476110 Focus MK2 1.8/2.0 Petrol Thermostat & HousingFits 1.8 Duratec (125PS) Petrol EngineFits 2.0 Duratec (145PS) Petrol EngineFits From: 29-03-2004 To: 15-01-2008 Thanks.

    Engine swap

Hi all. Got a 56 plate 1.6 Duratec Ford Fiesta .head gasket failure which is end result in the block being twisted so basically scrapped engine . My question is . Would s smaller day 1.2 engine swap work with current gear box ECU etc as was thinking making it a first car for my son. Many thanks
  4. Hallo everyone, I am new to the forum. I accidently discovered that one part on engine {fiesta 1.3 duratec} is wet, but I don't now what it is. Car is anyhow running strong, only recently a little squeak noise is heard when engine cold. Does anyone know what is this wet part? I have a picture. Wandering of maybe an upcoming problem into the future. Thanks
  5. OK I have a rough girl with a surging idle , i've heard a likely cause could be a dirty throttle body (and/or Map sensor ) that needs cleaning . Being tight of money for a mechanic looking at it , I want to have a stab myself . I had noticed this has been covered before here Duratec Cleaning Map sensor & Throttle body To get to the throttle body , as shown in the post in the link, one has to remove the Air cleaning outlet hose . Strangley it seems ford have their own proprietary steel ties , they look like the ties used on CV boots . To get the hose off the original ties look like they need to be cut/destroyed (disposable). I could get regular pinch clamp style ties , that are used on CV boots I suppose , but the lower hose tie which attaches to the Throttle body is in a very confined space, it would be very tricky to get a pinch style clamps inside and at the right angle to get a tight clamp around the hose I was thinking of using a jubilee steel tie for the bottom end of the air cleaning outlet hose , as it would be easier to tighten I just wondered if anyone had done this before, that could share their experience with me? I have done pretty regular stuff on cars like CV joints , rotors , Pads , Brake cylinders - So I am confident with tools for basic jobs
  6. Hi everyone, this is my first post so apologies if it takes me a while to reply or generally figure this site out 🙃 I've recently bought a Focus mk2.5 2009 with 12k on the clock and I'm looking to do some interior and exterior modifications but could do with some help and info on what sites to look on for parts, this is the first ford I've ever bought so my knowledge of them is almost none existent! 😳 Thanks in advance everyone.
  7. Long story cut short... Car runs like crap, lumpy idle, no power/acceleration, sometimes hard start/no start. Discovered recently it had a oil leak, and oil was getting to spark plugs, so I've changed the rocker gasket and plugs, so far so good regarding that. However; I'm also getting quite a bit of oil in the airbox, small puddles are collecting, and has knackered the air filter. Does anyone know what could cause oil in the airbox, apart from knackered piston rings? I have NO smoke from the exhaust what so ever, so I'm reluctant to think its the piston rings. Also, sometimes when the car doesn't start, all the dials (temp/fuel/miles) reset themselves and go crazy, but I've checked the battery and the voltage is all good. Any help with this would a major help! Thanks in advance.

  9. Hi, Looking for some advice on which replacement water pump I need. The car is a 2003 StreetKa, registered in March of that year. The engine is a 1.6 Duratec (Zetec Rocam). It needs a new water pump. Two part numbers are listed and I'm unsure which I need. First part no 1229571 lists a water pump and gasket, and second part no 1798955 lists a water pump kit with no gasket ... sold separately. Has anyone fitted one? Do I need the additional part shown in the pump kit? Or can I buy the pump and gasket? Cheers, Ed

Swapping 1.25 Duratec Head To 1.4

Hi, I have a Mk6 Fiesta with a 1.25 Duratec has anyone changed the cylinder head to one off the 1.4 duratec? Or know if doing it is possible? Many thanks
  11. Hi All, I have a 2007 ford fiesta 1.4 duratec with +- 115k km on the engine. Yesterday I found a lot of oil in my coolant container, but no white spots on my dip stick or oil cap. the car has not over heated. Could anyone assist me in attempting to identify the problem? I would greatly appreciate it. Regards Mawande
  12. Hi, I have a mk2 focus 1.8 duratec with 53,000 miles on it. When I'm on the motorway the car feel jerky when accelerating, almost feels likes it misfiring, anything over quarter of a throttle it jerks and feels like it's holding back, really annoying . Parts replaced for other reasons are, 02 sensors, map sensor I have also tried a set of coils and no difference. Any help would be very appriciated! I have brought an egr blanking plate so am going to try that.
  13. Good Evening, can anyone help me? I am trying to source a 3 piece clutch kit and timing belt kit with waterpump from that most respected of sources - ebay. Unfortunately different motor factors on there seem to provide different parts and I am very confused. Even my local motor factors has said they need to call technical support to confirm any parts! I am unable to get an engine variant code (e.g. EYDB, FXDA or HWDA etc, etc) from Ford who state the only information available is: Focus Zetec 1.6L Duratec 16v TI-VCT 115/120PS engine with 5 speed manual transaxle transmission. Can anyone help with the part numbers of appropriate Ford replacement parts, or better still, tge parts numbers from other suppliers - like LUK clutches. All help very gratefully received - against a bit of a deadline. Kind regsrds

    Water Pump ?

I have a 2004 slovak spec 1.3L Duratec Fiesta, It broke down a couple of days ago, when one of the hoses going into the cabin bursted and caused coolant leakage, but when i removed the hose the ending where i think is connected to the water pump, how can i remove the water pump ? and is it made of metal or plastic ?
  15. Hi all, new on here but I've been on as a guest quite often looking for advice :) my problem is this, The engine will turn over, fail to fire and cut out. also whilst cranking it if you even so much as touch the throttle it'll make this god awful sort of grinding noise and immediately die. any clues? recently had to change the thermostat housing as the old one ruptured and leaked coolant everywhere (this of course caused it to overheat and cut out at the roadside). also recently replaced the plugs and HT leads as the old ones had corroded causing misfiring, but this was at least a month prior to the coolant issue. oh and it's the Duratec engine. hope at least someone will have a clue as I'm stumped frankly. Many thanks :)
  16. Hey, I am new here but have a question that is repeated on a number of forums... I have a 2006 Ford Ka 1.3, a few days back the speedo stopped working and then I ended up with a with a mil light on. I ran a diagnostic myself and found that the Vehicle speed sensor is faulty. I followed teh manual I had ans was unable to find the sensor at all. I checked where they said but the manual is for the earlier model ka. With my 2006 model it is a duratec engine with a different gearbox. The model is fitted with abs - could the wheel sensors act as the speed sensor too? My question is... where is the speed sensor mounted... and whats the easiest way to get to it? Any advice would be appreciated (pictures even more so.) Thanks in advance to any replies!!!
