Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Get Stressed Searching For Spaces In Busy Car Parks?

GET STRESSED SEARCHING FOR SPACES IN BUSY CAR PARKS? THIS NEW TECH COULD BE THE ANSWER The stress of searching for elusive empty bays in busy car parks may one day be a thing of the past, thanks to new 'collaborative parking' technology being tested on the streets – and in the car parks – of Milton Keynes, in the U.K. Drivers can spend, on average, more than a day each year looking for parking spaces, according to a new study commissioned by Ford – and the new technology, being tested this week, displays a 'crowd-sourced' map of available spaces, specifically in formal car parks. * “We understand how much wasted time and unnecessary stress is caused by searching for parking spaces in towns and cities,” said Christian Ress, supervisor, Automated Driving Europe, Ford Research and Advanced Engineering. “With our research into ‘collaborative parking’, we see an opportunity to hand that time back to drivers, helping them enjoy happier, healthier and more efficient journeys.” Ford is among project partners to have developed 'collaborative parking' and other vehicle‑to‑infrastructure technologies as part of the UK Autodrive project – a £20 million government-sponsored programme taking self-driving and connected-car technologies from the test track to the streets. With parking spaces in towns and cities across Europe increasingly difficult to find, it is hoped technology like this could help. ** 'Collaborative parking' is powered by data from the parking sensors of vehicles using the car park. This informs the map that shows which spaces may be free – and can also incorporate data from the car parks’ own monitoring systems. Previously, as part of UK Autodrive, Ford and partners have showcased systems that warn when emergency services vehicles need to overtake, and when cars unseen up ahead – perhaps hidden by a bend in the road – brake suddenly. * Survey of 2,039 UK respondents between 9-12 March 2018 ** https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/sep/27/cities-eliminating-car-parks-parking
  2. Hello everyone, As most will know you cannot buy Mountune badges without buying a kit, I have the induction kit & intercooler so feel like I could warrant a badge, as well as the fact I can't afford to get the 2k+ kit right now. I don't agree with Mountune badging with no mod's but I am sure there are others in the same boat as me, money wise. To cut the long story short, I have a supplier who can make high quality metal Mountune badges, is this something that people would be interested in or is it looked at quite badly in the world of Ford (I am still pretty new to the scene). Thank you
  3. Fob key repair/replacement

If you have a fob key problem ie: buttons not working properly / not at all try this 1: remove battery, then bend small side prong up a bit so it no longer sits at the side of the battery but on top of it when re-fitting, chances are it's no longer touching the battery.. 2: if step 1 hasn't worked buy a new fob replacement then carefully cut the rubber down the side of the transponder remove then fit into your new fob key ( use some blu tack / PVA glue to stop it moving and lessen the chance of breaking it ) and swap the circuit board and the key end..
  4. 2013 Focus Titanium X Passenger side power folding mirror won’t fold/unfold smoothly when locking and unlocking the car. Sometimes it won’t unfold at all and I have to unfold it by force. Adjustment of the mirror glass only works when the car is locked from the inside. No sign of any damage. Anybody else had this problem and know a fix?
  5. Anyone know why there are different warranty ( garantee ) periods. Over here in the Netherlands and Belgium the basic period is two years but in the UK , USA and Australia for example , it's three years for the same model.
  6. My clutch is on its way out on my 2015 red edition (which seems to be a common issue!) rather than moan that ford are stitching me up blaming driver error over their faulty parts (which they are!!) I see this as the perfect opporunity to replace it with an upgrade. I am looking for reccomendations for a better than stock uprated clutch which will be able to handle any potential re-maps and modifications in the future. Anyone got any experience with this?

  9. 2010 1.25 Fiesta & Snow

Hi All, This is my first post so apologies if this is in the wrong place. I am currently driving a 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Petrol, and I am just wondering how this particular model handles driving in snowy conditions. I am not driving my car unless absolutely necessary as I am still a relatively inexperienced driver, especially in the snow! However there may be a time this weekend where I absolutely have to drive for personal reasons. I understand the basics of driving in snow, and have actually done it before, but never this bad! Any advice, or reviews from other drivers of this or similar models in snow would be greatly appreciated. I love my little Fiesta by the way, and wouldn't change it for the world!
  10. Hi, Newbie here. Some polite person decided to take most of my wing mirror off. I have ordered a new one, but cannot see how to remove and fit the new one. Most of the old one is still there so am I worth just replacing the glass, casing and side repeaters rather than the whole thing? I am not massively technical but did instal a kitchen so can use a screw driver. Any help gratefully received

Both kits go on sale March 1, 2018 priced at £12.99 Ford, The LEGO Group and rally specialists M-Sport today revealed a new model from the LEGO® Speed Champions range that is set to bring the thrill of the rally stage to living room floors across Europe – the title-winning M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC rally car The designers at LEGO have recreated the striking looks of the M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC car complete with powerful wheel arches and dramatic front and rear spoilers. The new set includes a choice of wheel trims, two interchangeable bonnets – one featuring spotlights for night driving, authentic miniature race-graphics and a driver minifigure with helmet and racing overalls that can be placed inside the car through the removable windscreen. When complete, the 203-piece Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC LEGO Speed Champions model measures 6 centimetres (2 inches) high and wide, and 13 centimetres (5 inches) long. “With two World Rally Championship titles and five rally victories in 2017, it’s hard to think of a more worthy addition to the LEGO Speed Champions range than the M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC car”, said Mark Rushbrook, Ford global director of Motorsport. “The LEGO Speed Champions series is a fun way to celebrate the success of Ford cars in motorsport. We hope it will inspire future generations of car designers, engineers and rally drivers.” The M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC car last year powered to victory in both the FIA World Rally Championship Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ competitions, driven by Sébastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia, who are driving for the new M-Sport Ford World Rally Team this year alongside upcoming talent Elfyn Evans co-driver Daniel Barritt. Powered by Ford’s 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, the real-life M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC rally car is based on the all-new Ford Fiesta launched across Europe last year, and has already started the 2018 World Rally Championship season in winning-style with victory for Ogier and Ingrassia at Rallye Monte-Carlo last month. Ford and LEGO have also introduced a new 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback model to the LEGO® Speed Champions range. The 184-piece kit features green bodywork with gold-coloured wheels and comes with a timing board, race-graphics stickers, removable windscreen and a minifigure driver wearing a classic-style racing suit. The iconic Ford GT40 and new Ford GT racing cars that won Le Mans 24 Hours in 1966 and 2016 are also available as part of the LEGO Speed Champions collection. The new LEGO Speed Champions M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC rally car and 1968 Mustang Fastback will be available to order at LEGO.com/shop from March 1, 2018, each with a recommended retail price of £12.99.

It’s the ultimate track showdown: Eight models from the Ford Performance global line-up on a circuit together for the very first time pushed to their limits by the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team drivers In a new video from Ford Performance, filmed at the Motorland race circuit near Barcelona, Spain, the Ford F-150 Raptor; Fiesta ST, all-new Fiesta ST, Focus RS, new Mustang GT, Mustang GT350R, Ford GT road car and Ford GT race car go head-to-head in a staggered time trial around one lap of the 5.345 km circuit. The sequence was filmed in partnership with Castrol Edge during a tight four-hour window, during which all eight Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team drivers took time-out from a pre-season Ford GT race car tyre test to shoot. Andy Priaulx, Harry Tincknell, Olivier Pla and Stefan Mücke from the World Endurance Championship, and Dirk Müller, Joey Hand, Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, each took the wheel of a Ford Performance model – setting off at intervals and culminating in an eight-way battle through the final bends and finish straight. The time trial was the first and probably only chance to find out if a Fiesta ST could beat a Le Mans-winning Ford GT race car. The showdown was filmed using three camera crews, a drone and 16 GoPro cameras. Wheel-to-wheel action was captured using a custom-built Ford Fiesta ST camera tracking vehicle in ultra-high-definition 4K resolution. From extra special pickup trucks to Le Mans-winning thoroughbred race cars, Ford Performance vehicles offer unique characters but share sophisticated driving technologies to deliver exceptional fun to drive experiences. All but two of the cars feature Ford’s EcoBoost engines, from the smallest 3‑cylinder 1.5-litre EcoBoost in the all-new Fiesta ST right up to the 3.5-litre twin turbo EcoBoost in the F-150 Raptor, road-going Ford GT and Ford GT race car. The Mustang GT350R features a remarkable flat-plane crank V8 that delivers 526 horsepower from 5.2 litres, while the new Mustang GT features the iconic 5.0-litre V8. Afterwards, Harry Tincknell said: “It was a hilarious shoot. Eight racing drivers all given a car to go flat-out in for a race. Anything could have happened and it almost did! It was amazing to be one of the first people to drive the all-new Ford Fiesta ST, one of the most popular cars in the world, and it handled like a dream. “ Richard Westbrook, who drove the Focus RS said: “It was great to take on our Ford Chip Ganassi Racing teammates at a totally different challenge. It was just a blast. Ford Performance offers vehicles that are so capable at very different things and their strengths showed on the track.” Stefan Mücke said: “Driving the all-new Mustang GT road car on the race track was great fun. It was very special to see all the Ford Performance cars on the track at the same time, and quite brave, too, to do this with a group of competitive racing drivers! It got very close in the final corners as everybody wanted to be first. Great fun and an awesome lap!” Joey Hand said: "Some of the coolest cats out there drive Mustangs and I love horsepower, so I was crossing my fingers I'd get the GT350R. Things got a little wild on the track, but it was a great time. I'd take them on again." Olivier Pla said: “Obviously driving the Ford GT was great around Motorland. You can clearly feel and it is obvious to see how fast this car is. Driving the Ford GT at the limit is very special. The car is a work of art!” Cars and drivers Driver Vehicle Engine Power Ryan Briscoe F-150 Raptor 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost 450 hp (U.S specification) Dirk Müller Fiesta ST 1.6-litre EcoBoost 182 PS Harry Tincknell All-new Fiesta ST 1.5-litre EcoBoost 200 PS Richard Westbrook Focus RS 2.3-litre EcoBoost 350 PS Stefan Mücke New Mustang GT 5.0-litre V8 450 PS (anticipated) Joey Hand Mustang GT350R 5.2-litre V8 526 hp (U.S specification) Olivier Pla Ford GT road car 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost 655 PS Andy Priaulx Ford GT race car 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost N/A All track activities were filmed on a closed circuit and monitored by Ford’s safety experts
  16. Hi, First time in this forum So here's the issue: Ever since updating to IOS11 on my iPhone, the bluetooth between the phone and my fiesta's stereo is absolutely horrendous! It pops and crackles like a vinyl record, its like having a ***** bowl of Rice Crispies in the back! Both with music and phonecalls. It's driving me up the wall, so I called Apple (who blame Ford,), called Ford (who blames Apple). It's the same for my friend who owns a similar year Fiesta and a new iPhone. So my advice is do not update your phone, or do not buy a '10 model fiesta.
  17. Hi all. My name is Nikola, I am from Croatia. Ford lover. I saw this forum on internet and had to join (found some nice tips for my car). My car is Focus mk2 1.6tdci. Little modified. Later I will introduce my car and write all modifications. Regards
  18. Hello to everyone, This is my first post to this forum, sorry for mistakes(I'm Spanish), and sorry if I had anything to do previously to post the first post... I've just bought the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line, with EcoBoost 1.0T engine (100cv/HP), and I was thinking what is the difference between the 100HP, 125HP and 140HP engines, maybe are exactly the same, but only with limitations at the ECU? With different map? If any of you have information about these engines and also if these are exactly the same as the Mk7 I will be pleased to read you, THANKS! Also, if you have a Ford fiesta mk8 with 125 or 140HP, and can take a photo of your engine to compare with mine, it will be great. Thanks to everyone.

  21. This is a re-post of my [now deleted] post on the General chat, titled: 'I'm driving around the world/Social media advice needed' from January 11th 2018. Due to lackadaisical typing I noticed several typos I couldn't go back and edit and before the post gained any more views I figured it would be best to re-post and move category. Instagram: @drive_further Facebook page: drive_further My story so far: I write this in part as you guys may be interested in my achievements which I haven't really publicised - for no other reason than the fact I'm travelling for my own personal experience. In 2016 I left England on what so far has been a 2 year road trip across the northern hemisphere (with a brief visit to west-coast America whilst I applied for Central Asian visas) in my 2002 Ford Fiesta. I've driven to date over 25,000 miles and explored countries such as Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania, Russia, Georgia ... In late 2016 I visited the northern Russian city of Murmansk experiencing temperatures as low as -22 and my car was fine! In the coming days I will cross the Ural river, the geographical feature separating Asia and Europe; and and arrive for the first time in the continent of Asia. I've severely neglected social media ad wasn't sure how best to 'advertise' my travels, I simply thought someone may be interested. I'm not looking for fame, simply, I have accumulated so many interesting stories, both car and non car related, along with tens of thousands of DSLR photos and 'car selfies.' I just thought as my story is perhaps unusual and in a Ford Fiesta someone/you all may be interested.
  22. Just received an order I placed from DMB Graphics for some wing badges (image attached) to go in the triangular groove on the doors. Has anyone fitted these before and how did they go about it? Just looking for tips and tricks, plan on cleaning the car this weekend, warming the backing paper the stickers are currently applied too, and placing in the groove? Any tips on where these should be placed in the groove, or any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Attached an image of a pic from Instagram of a car that has them applied to show the desired look!
  23. Hello guys! I've come across a slight issue with my new Crossover pipe from R-Sport. It seems there is a breather pipe of some sort which connects to the right hand side of the new crossover pipe as seen in the picture and when it came to fitting it, this hose will kink badly, blocking all air from passing through. This obviously in turn will put the car straight into limp mode. I've tried all sort of ways of connecting this hose but it just seems to bend and kink. Has anyone else had this issue and managed to overcome this? I really don't want it to be the case of £100 wasted. Any help will be brilliant, thanks.
  24. Hello all, I have been driving a Ford Focus Estate 1.5L Diesel 2016 Model for work for just under a year. Loved driving it and it got me looking into Fords for my own personal car. I recently purchased a Mk4 Ford Mondeo Zetec 1.6L TDCi Econetic hatchback (2012) in Midnight Sky colour and very much enjoying driving it. Looking forward to hopefully learn a lot from this forum about Fords, and cars in general.
