  1. Hi everyone, So I've had my Fiesta for just over 6 months now. The problem I'm having is that when I'm reversing, the car makes a groaning or moaning noise, as if it's struggling. Seems to have got progressively worse over the past week. Also, the difference between in reverse and out is so minute I end up grinding half the time! Has anyone else experienced this with their Fiesta? Thanks!
  2. Hello, I recently bought a Focus MK2.5 2008 Duratec HE 1.8 petrol and so far I'm loving it... well apart from an annoying noise I've been getting when I accelerate suddenly (Quickly) in 2nd or 3rd gear. It doesn't do it every time and never seems to do it until the engine has warmed up. It also only lasts maybe 2-5 seconds. I've recently changed my PCV valve, which was a pretty stressful day, but I can't think of this being the reason (Unless someone has any ideas). I was thinking of a kink in the PCV Valve hose but I'm not getting any telltale signs. I had the car checked by a garage (externally), but they couldn't spot any issues and of course they cannot replicate the issue. 😞 I found a video of someone having the same issue albeit a lot worse then mine. I've cropped the video and included it in the thread. They're running a MK2 Focus 2.0 2006 petrol engine. I've tried unplugging the swirl flaps airline, but it doesn't stop it so I guess that rules them out. Does anyone have any ideas, it's driving me nuts. I'm driving over 300 miles next month to wales so I'm getting worried! Please any help would be great! Thanks 🙂
  3. Hey guys, I'm new around here, looking for some help. I have a 2009 Ford Focus Mk2.5 Zetec s/s 1.8. Had it since November, there's about 62000 miles on the clock. Recently noticed a grinding/grating noise when braking heavily on low traction surfaces. It's not a normal ABS sound, I'm fairly confident what ABS activation sounds like. I thought at first it may be the ABS malfunctioning, but I've also noticed on a few occasions the same sound with a bit of wheel spin, but not every time. So it seems it's more associated with losing traction than just heavy braking. Here's a dash cam video where you can hear the sound: Any ideas/help with what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks,
  4. So, I recently underwent a build on my 2015 Fiesta ST. It's now pushing around 250bhp with all the necessary parts. I've had some issues with the front right tyre being gouged by the wheel arch (since sorted). Strange it only happened on the drivers side though... The real thing worrying me is that whenever I put my foot flat in first and second gear I get a grinding/crunching feel through the gas pedal. Originally I thought this was where the arch was rubbing but it hasn't gone away since raising the suspension. My garage assures me this is normal, and is just due to fact there's a lot more torque going through the wheels now. Has anyone else experienced this? I'd rather check and be safe before doing some damage. Thanks, Nathan.
  5. I have a 15 reg Mark 3.5 Focus 1.5 Tdci Titanium 5dr 6sp with about 25k on the clock (which I love ... nicest car I've driven and I say that having previously driven BMWs/Audis for 15 years). I was pulling into an exceptionally tight car park space the other day and found I had to do some toing and froing (some of it at full lock) in order to get pointed into the space. The parking space was clear and I drove in forwards. At about the halfway point there was the most horrendous scraping / grinding noise ... it sounded like I was forcing the car over a high concrete kerb ... at the same time the car appeared to brake (I say "appeared" because I cannot promise I did not immediately brake the car because of the noise, but my remembrance is the car was slowing before my foot reached the brake). I stopped the car, switched it off and looked underneath ... nothing. I backed the car out of the space (no grinding or scraping) and had another look ... nothing. I then got back into the car and drove it into the space with no problem. I have not experienced the noise again ... so far. I had to take the car into my dealer for its 25k service and explained what happened ... I told them I did not know what I had contacted with, but I had most certainly contacted with something. I also said that the noise was so horrific that I must have damaged something. They promised to look into the matter. When I returned to pick my car up the service advisor (whom I had told my tale of woe in the morning) did not mention the issue! When I asked her she said, "Oh! Yes. Nothing showed up" whatever that means! Do any of you knowledgeable types have any idea what might have happened? As an aside the dealer had carried out something called a "Visual Health Check" as part of the service which the car passed 100%. Look forward to hearing from you.
  6. Hello Everyone, Re: Changing Gear/Clutch Grinding Noise - Ford Fiesta Ghia, 2003, 1596cc Went on a 5 mile round trip today and noticed that when I pressed the clutch in I could hear (and feel) a grinding noise/vibration through the clutch pedal.. I've noticed for quite a while (year+) that when I set off in first gear there's a judder when lift the clutch out and start moving, but it only happens in first gear. Any advice would be most appreciated, especially possible repair costs? All the best, Amanda
  7. Hi, I've recently purchased a second hand Ford Focus (2013 reg). Occasionally, it makes a grinding sound when changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Should I get it checked before the warranty expires! Any ideas much appreciated!
  8. I'm loving my ST diesel, however after 5k miles the front off side suspension and steering has got noisy, especially when its dry and warm. The most annoying grinding noise. Also the clutch had developed a squeak. Booked in to the dealers on Friday, just wondering if anyone else has had the same issues
  9. Help please. I feel an intermittent grinding sensation through the accelerator pedal and occasionally the clutch pedal when cruising. Passengers can't hear it so I'm assuming I'm imagining that I can hear it. What could it be? For example, it often happens when cruising at 30 miles an hour in 3rd or 4th and foot resting gently or feathering accelerator to keep at speed. However, it can happen on the motor way cruising at 60-70 as well. The main thing, it happens only when cruising not breaking or accelerating/pulling away. Depressing the clutch doesn't stop it. I've just had new clutch and DMF but this problem was from before - I'm noticing it more now, I think. I've also just had full electrics diagnostics which show up no major problems (cruise control occasionally turns off when I press SET- (minus) but I don't really care about that too much). No warning lights showing. 2 mechanics have done short test drives and think it's a smooth driving car and can't feel the grinding sensation. I have Ford Mondeo Zetec (2010) diesel, 140bhp, 1997, 35,000miles ish. Suggestions please, folks! Thanks for any help. Anska.
  10. Hi, I have a focus mk1 1.8tdci and for the past 2 days my car seems to drop in power alot in all gears and when it does i can hear a loud grinding noise at the same time, it can drop in revs so much in 1st and 2nd gear that the car stalls. Any ideas? Thanks, Richard

    Focus Braking Problem

Hi, I have a 59 reg 1.6 focus dielsel, and have a problem when braking. I can hear a grinding noise if braking harsh-ish, doesnt do it when braking normally and the noise is accompanied by a nasty vibration through the brake pedal. The problem has been happening on and off for a couple of weeks. The brakes were checked by a main ford dealer about 2 months ago. The problem occurs either when braking going over a speed bump, on ice, or braking when going over an uneven road surface. This is making me think it has something to do with the abs, but as a complete novice this is only a guess. The brakes are great at all other times. By coincidence the car is going into the garage for its MOT on Saturday, and I've asked them to take a look, but I'd like to have some idea beforehand. Thanks for any help you can give me
