  1. Hi all, so i am purchasing a Sony WX-920BT Head unit (double DIN) to replace the stock 6000CD head unit in my 08 fiesta (MK6). Is this a simple, unplug old unit and plug a new one in? I have not done this before and this is the first time tinkering with any car audio units. So what do i actually need? Do i need any specific adapters or anything? I think i should be able to just unplug the old unit and slot in the new unit? I have ordered the removal keys, is this all i need? Please correct me if i am wrong and point me in the right direction. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks a lot.
  2. Hi all, just have the ford 6000cd in my 2009 galaxy. Looking to upgrade and seen some android ones on a popular auction site which slide straight in. Have any of you done this? What are they like? Can you still use existing buttons on steering wheel? Thanks in advance ! Lloyd

    Head Unit Fried?

My car has had some electrical issues and made a bad burning smell the other day. I've taken the head unit out today and the smell is definitely coming from in the head unit. Is it possible for a head unit to spontaneously fry its own components or is there a bigger issue that has caused this? My car is 2005 Mk2 Ford Focus with the sony 6000CD head unit.
  4. Hi all, I am thinking about swapping out the head unit to something with a bit more punch and clarity (if this is possible). With the stock audio system, the audio gets very distorted on higher volumes when using the aux (i don't listen to the radio). Also the built in aux port has alot of wear and can cut out depending on how i position the 3.5mm jack. My insurer (co-op young drivers) said swapping out the head unit doesn't count as a modification, only if i add an amp or change the speakers is it then considered a vehicle mod. So i want to swap out the existing Ford 6000 CD to something a bit better, which includes Bluetooth and a USB port for charging. Will changing the head unit to something more premium improve the audio clarity and volume? Any suggestions? I found that the 6000 cd outputs 20w per channel after some googling. Do you think it is worth my time upgrading the head unit? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, Thanks (My car: Ford Fiesta Zetec Climate 1.25 2008)

    Head unit problems

Hi, I’m having problems with my head unit I believe. I always connect my phone to the aux lead and my music plays through the speakers but nothing shows up on the head unit so no song titles or information and the skip buttons on the wheel and the console don’t do anything when they’ve been pressed. In my previous fiesta the music was also able to be played through the Bluetooth and I have Bluetooth on my current fiesta but the aux won’t switch to the Bluetooth like it did in my old one. Any suggestions on what to do as I don’t want to have to buy another head unit. Many thanks!

  8. Just installed my brand new Xtrons PB76FSFAP-B head unit, and i love it... just tweeking the finer details on it. i would like to dim my head unit when the headlights come on as they are automatic anyway im told from some of the forums that there is an orange wire behind the unit that needs to be plugged into the headlight pin. does anyone have any material on which pin is for which on my wiring loom? the previous unit dimmed on headlights starting up so this is a good sign.
  9. Hi, can I get some knowledge please as I would like to replace my 6000cd radio Head unit with a after market touchscreen head unit. I am getting puzzled as to size of head unit to replace in to the cavity of where the 6000cd head unit was housed. My 6000cd is double din and the shape of head unit is oblong/ Square not oval. Can anyone advise please on size specs and brand name units to buy that will fit straight in to cavity. Thanks.
  10. Hi all, After the car went smoothly through it's MOT (after it had a front wheel bearing replaced, that I knew needed doing) I though I was good to go. This morning the car had other ideas, the car drives fine but there is no power to the aftermarket Sony head unit that has been fitted for around 3 years. I've tested the various sections of wiring from the head unit back to the car side of the quad lock and the wiring is good (I used the front courtesy light wiring to to power my 'tests'). I also put connecting blocks on the wiring before the quadlock and this also worked perfectly so we can rule out the quadlock itself as being the culprit. The issue seems to be that there's no power being supplied to either the permanent live or the 'switched' supply (at least in terms of the loom that is for the head unit). I've checked all the fuses in the footwell GEM and all look good. Does anyone have any bright ideas? (the GEM is dry, no signs of water ingress etc). If I can't find the culprit and fix it I'll have to look at tapping into a different feed but it'll need to be permanently on rather than switched. When I carbon wrapped a few bits previously I'm sure I found a spare loom on the passenger side (I assumed it was for electric seats, if so does anyone know if the feed for the electric seats in permanent live or if not what other options I have in terms of tapping into a permanent live?). Does anyone know if the 'cig lighter' in permanent live? Thanks in advance for any bright suggestions.
  11. Hi all! First post to the forum with a quick question if anyone can help? I recently got a Ford Focus Flight 1.6 and was wondering if anyone knew of any Ford or third party head units that would fit this car that come equipped with Bluetooth and/or aux? I'm looking for something a bit more modern to replace the current, broken head unit that came with the car. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Mitchell
  12. Hi all. Just wanted to document and put a few pictures of the audio upgrade that I am planning for my wife's 2006 Seat Leon 1.6 R (petrol) MK2 audio system. I recently upgraded my own head unit in my Focus to the AVH-X8700BT and the previous unit, Pioneer AVH-X2500BT was not going to be used. Rather than sell it on, I decided to install it in my wife's car as she didn't have bluetooth, aux in etc. She's not overly concerned with sound quality unlike myself and would need more the functionality of handsfree bluetooth calling and music streaming. I plan on doing the upgrades step wise like I did in my own car. Phase one: Head unit upgrade with all wiring, fascia, adaptor, mic etc wires in. I think this will make the most noticeable impact in functionality and sound improvement. I have acquired most of the parts and only one needed to be picked up later on is a 3.5mm 1.8m Aux cable, just in case it's required down the line. 1. Fascia, ISO loom and stereo removal keys bought from Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171470784318?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT 2. Headunit, wiring, USB extender, Mic, fascia surround, cage and stereo removal keys.

    6000CD AUX issue!

I understand that there are a lot of topics on the whole AUX connection for 6000CD, however none have simply resolved the issue. I've pulled the head unit out and I have a cable from the back of the radio into the glovebox, where the square block clips into a housing behind the hole that can be seen from the front of the glovebox labelled 'AUX IN', I have also purchased Ford Part No. 1426121 which has a similar block on one end and a 3.5mm jack on the other. How on earth can I simply get a connection from the back of my radio to a cable with a 3.5mm jack on the end?! I initially thought that the convenient 'AUX IN' hole in the glovebox was a simple connection for a 3.5mm jack, how wrong I was! Please help! Thanks.
  14. Hi There I recently purchased a Sony DAB unit on eBay with the intention of upgrading my existing standard stereo. The Sony came off a 2012 fiesta as well so I figured it would be a straight swap (excluding the DAB aerial of course), oh how wrong was I! turns out the Sony unit has an extra 26 pin connector at the back as well as the additional aerial connector (see pic). It also doesn't have the usb plug the standard stereo has (though I'm not really fussed about that as I'm not gong to be using it). So what I want to know is, what is this extra 26pin socket for? can I still use the newer stereo without it? is there some kind of funky franken-connector I need to make in order to get it to work? Or should I sack it off, sell the unit on eBay and find another solution? Some help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've seen similar threads on this before but the other stereo involved was different from my standard one and so the solution doesn't seem to be the same
  15. I've connected a reversing camera through to my Pumpkin head unit, wired as per all received wisdom from this site, and it works - except it will not trigger automatically (I have tested it via the aux video in socket so I know it all works) There is a reversing camera trigger wire coming from the head unit which it now appears needs to be wired in (I was hoping it would work without this but I seem to be misguided) - rather than pulling off all the interior trim again ( and feeding yet another wire through the tailgate conduit) can I wire it into the switch that controls the front parking sensors? These are triggered by the reversing light switch and their switch is a damn sight closer to the head unit than the reversing lights. Any thoughts anyone?

    Dashboard

I'm replacing the Ford CD6000 unit in my '56 plate TDCI and I want a neat way to position the gps aerial under the dashboard top (between instrument nacelle and screen) This panel removes easily enough but I don't really want to drill a hole to get to the radio location - is there anywhere to route the cable so as to avoid this? The dashboard is so well built that I can't find a way through it. The same goes for the usb cable that runs from the back of the head unit. Oh, and then there's the reversing camera lead to run from tailgate to head unit. So many questions for a simple radio swop!
  17. So I bought a new head unit from Halfords today and removed my 6000CD, Unfortunately the harness they recommended for my Model was totally wrong, Also gave me the wrong removal keys! I Managed to get the head unit out with a little help from a friend. Sitting with no head unit for a couple of days while I wait for my new harness. Notice I needed a new face plate too so found this steal on e-bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371253357293?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Includes the correct Keys (not that I need them), Harness and Face Plate Head Unit : http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/dab-radios-car-stereos/sony-wx-gt90bt-double-din-car-stereo What Halfords sold me : http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/stereo-fitting-accessories/harness-adaptor-pc2-09-4 Will post pics when I get it all installed.

    Aftermarket Headunit Mk7.5

Hey, I was looking at the aftermarket head unit from "Drive Audio" it seems to be the best looking one i can find, where i don't have to move the current display to a new location. Does anyone have it? http://www.car-vision.co.uk/ford-fiesta-2013/313-driveaudio-ford-fiesta-2013-onwards-gps-bt-dvd-ipod-rds-dab-5060431020355.html Seems to integrate with menus and so fourth out of the box. Or does any one have any other kind of head unit? Thanks! /Mick
  19. Focus Titanium - ls rns sat nav mp3 radio navigation unit not working. it has twice powered off and powered on spontainiously without requiring the code to be entered to re-start. whilst powered off the new battery power was totally disapated. there was about 1 amp flowing. on removal of the unit the current flow ceased. the power comsumption of the unit has been checked whilst out of the car and it is effectively zero (this is not definitive as the unit cannot be properly powered up out of the car and the intermittent nature of the fault). Can anyone offer any suggestions?
  20. My dad has just purchased a 57 plate Focus ST, we bought the car yesterday and as we were driving it back home I had a play around with its Radio/Sat Nav system. The radio didn't work and the bluetooth audio sound quality was diabolical. The plan to solve this is that we would like to take out this aftermarket radio and put in a standard ford radio/CD player with no Sat Nav. If we were to purchase something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-GALAXY-S-MAX-C-MAX-6000CD-/261724535836?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cefff7c1c would the change over with the wiring be simple or will we have to get adapters to make the radio and CD to work? Many thanks.
  21. Hi, I am looking at replacing the Sony head unit I have in my MK2.5 Focus with a Kenwood Single DIN DAB item but I have some questions, 1. The clock on the dash is set via the Sony head unit. How will I change the time if I change the head unut. 2. I am looking to replace the standard Ford aerial with the Ford DAB kit. What connector is on the end of the Ford DAB aerial lead? Will the DAB lead fit straight into the back of the Kenwood? 3. Are there any other considerations I should have? Thanks in advance.

    Aftermarket Gps Head Unit

Hey guys, Have any one fitted any aftermarket GPS head units? Mostly just curious if its worth the money, i had a look at this: http://www.car-vision.co.uk/ford-navi-dvd/8147-driveaudio-ford-fiesta-2008-2012-gps-bt-dvd-ipod-rds-dab.html I'm not entirely convinced that I will need it, and if I should get it, just want to hear about some experiences :) Thanks, /Mick
  23. Hey! I'm abit new to all of this. I've just got my 09 zetec fiesta home, and am pondering the idea of upgrading the current head unit (aux only) to the bluetooth model. Before spending hours searching the internet regarding this, is Any one at all able to advise me on this? Thanks in advance :) Laura x
  24. I'm thinking of getting a double-din head unit for my '02 Fiesta, but I don't know if there are any double-din facia replacements I could get. Any ideas?
  25. Hi All, I have a 2006 LS LX Focus. Just wondering if anyone has done a conversion from the factory CD head unit to the Sony 6 CD in-dash unit that came out in the ST Focus (or XR5 to those of us in Australia)? Are the plugs the same for both? Does the remote control near the steering wheel work after the swap? Any info helps... cheers
