    Autofold Mirror Issue

Hi all , I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have just purchased a used 2013 1.0 Zetec S Ecoboost. I'm just feeling my way around the car at the moment but one of the first things I have come across is the driver's wing mirror will not autofold either on locking or when the button is manually pressed. The passenger mirror autofolds but only manually not on locking. All other mirror functions work, tilting etc. but not the autofold. Is this likely to be a fuse issue? I can't find the appropriate fuse in the manual for the mirrors and aside from going through each and every fuse to check I was hoping someone might have a clue. Thanks in advance.

    powerfold mirror issue

hello, I am not particularly savvy in terms of this so I do apologise. got into car this evening and mirrors unfolded as per usual, got home locked car and passenger side mirror folded back but driver side mirror stayed out. tried using the button on the door and again only passenger side moves, does sound like drivers side is trying to move but doesn't, have also tried the link to lock or whatever it is called in the vehicle settings on display but still no luck. not sure as to what the issue is, had issue a month or so back where both wouldn't fold with key, but managed to solve that one via button and in car settings. and looking for some advice as to what this may be whther it is fuse wiring, mirror, and a crazy one not sure whteher it would affect this or not could the battery in key have something to do with them having folding issues. may be off the reservation on that one just not sure. hope someone can help. many thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, Newbie here. Some polite person decided to take most of my wing mirror off. I have ordered a new one, but cannot see how to remove and fit the new one. Most of the old one is still there so am I worth just replacing the glass, casing and side repeaters rather than the whole thing? I am not massively technical but did instal a kitchen so can use a screw driver. Any help gratefully received
  4. Okay so on my travels through the world wide inter-web thingy I have stumbled across some cheap parts for what could be an interesting retrofit project. Basically the components to create puddle lights in the wing mirrors as follows: http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_focus_door_mirror_puddle_lamp_wire_2007_f_4506924_c_683.htm http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_focus_door_mirror_puddle_lamp_rh_2009_f_1675129_c_683.htm http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_focus_door_mirror_puddle_lamp_lh_2009_f_1675130_c_683.htm The cost works out at £25. I can imagine it requires the mirror unit to be removed to cut out the hole, then running some wires to the control unit. I have noticed before that there is a square marked out on the underside of the unit for the puddle light unit so would just be following the lines. Any feedback welcome, not sure if I will go along with this, but as money is tight and I really want to have a go at some sort of car based cheapish project. if those words can be used in the same sentence :P

    My poor ST :(

Spent almost 13 grand last year on my pride and joy. Ever since I've owned my ST I've treated it like my baby. Everything you could do to look after a car, I do it. Today was a sad day. I was driving to the shop through some slow moving traffic. The traffic coming down the hill on the right was not moving, and there were cars parked on the left, however it was a wide road and I was still driving on my side. I was travelling at about 20 mph when all of a sudden a teenager ran out in the road.... He was no older than 15. He ran through the stationary traffic on the right, ignoring the cars signals to him that traffic was moving on the other side, he carried on running across the road and onto my side and before I could see him it was too late. I hit him and knocked him up the left side of the bonnet, down the right wing, damaging the door and destroying the wind mirror. The worst part is, he got up and ran away. I'm obviously grateful the kid wasn't seriously hurt and that he could get up and run. But at the same time, to do wrong and damage my car and not at least stop to say sorry, let alone give me his details, its painful. Although it would be classed as me running him over, I did no wrong. Was driving on my side of the road 10mph of the speed limit and he ran across the road without looking, when there was a zebra crossing 50 metres back down the road. Anyway, it hurts me to sit and look at my pride and joy with a screwed wing mirror. Anyone had experience with having a wing mirror replaced by a ford dealer and could give me an estimation on the cost before I go in on Monday? No matter how well you look after your car, one day someone will screw you :(
  6. Just wondering if anyone knows if you can either fold in or push in the wing mirrors on a Ford Ka Zetec? i have a 13 plate
  7. Having had my drivers side mirror removed by a dear old lady - it exploded, the powdered glass was all up my window and I was left with a stump - I priced a replacement from Ford, cost of parts £350-ish. Nothing in the breakers, on fleabay I found a complete replacement, pattern, from Latvia for £116 + £28 p&p. Physically identical except that it doesn't have the narrow segement down the side, the wiring colours were different and the plug was 8 pin, the Mondy is a 12. Before I go any further my background is a control panel and systems designer, so wiring is something I've done a fair bit of. While I was waiting for delivery (10 days or so) I stuck a round blind spot mirror on what was left, better than nothing. Attached .pdf of wiring mods. Mondeo Mirror.pdf Tony

Rear Camera in rear view mirror

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm trying to solve a problem with the other half's 2011 Fiesta Centura. It's got a reversing camera that activates a colour screen within the rear view mirror. It started working intermittently a while ago and would not come on at all, now when you put it in reverse all you get is a blue screen within the rear view mirror. I've had a quick look at the camera in the boot and it looked like there was some moisture in it. It should work like the attached image, but all we get now is a bluescreen - which suggests to me the screen is ok and there's an issue with either signal wire or the camera? Before I go and shell out for a new camera or start pulling the tailgate apart looking for splits in wires etc, is this a common fault with a quick fix? Thanks.
  9. Hi, I caught my passenger side wing mirror on a post while driving into a tesco car park (Please don't judge, I've not been driving for very long and was trying not to hit another car whose driver attempted to drive through me!). Once I parked up, I noticed my wing mirror was pushed in and the glass had come flying out. Some lovely person came running over with it and gave it back to me. However, I'm now clueless about what to do (it's currently taped in place). Having done a google search and looked at a few pictures I've managed to work out that the backing plate is still in place and it's just the glass that has come out. I haven't even got a scratch on the paintwork! I'm not sure if the backing plate is damaged as I don't really know what it's meant to look like - I didn't even realise that the glass could be replaced until today! I tried to push everything back in place but couldn't - although I may not have been doing it right. A bit of detail - I've got a 2005 Fiesta Studio with manually adjustable mirrors. Any advice is much appreciated!

    Power folding mirror HELP!

Hi all!! I'm a newbie, have been reading some posts and you all seem very keen to help a damsel in distress! I've got an 07 Fiesta Ghia, and it seems to have the option for power folding mirrors. When I push the toggle down it makes a click which sounds like a diode or switch working, so I'm guessing there is power there and the movement of the glass works perfectly. I was just wondering if there was any quick fix or if this is a Ford dealer job, or even a new one from ebay? I'm asking for a very basic as I'm a little slow . Thanks in advance guys!
  11. Hi guys, I have recently started a bit of a project on my 2009 Ford Focus Titanium to retrofit mirrors with puddle-lamps and power fold capability. I removed the old mirrors and attached new (aftermarket) mirrors with puddle lamps and power fold. I purchased a two-way button from Ford which replaces the standard interior scan button by the door handle. (I dont have the power fold switch integrated on the drivers door arm rest module). After a search on Google ive figured out where the extra wire needs to go on the drivers door control unit (the passenger mirror connector is fully populated) to power the drivers side mirror fold motor. Current Progress I've managed to turn on the puddle lamps with ELMConfig. Currently when i lock the car the mirrors move in a bit (and it seems using the mirror adjustment switch i can move them out again using the left arrow ?). The puddle lamps seem to be working properly. Questions Q1) How can i wire up the two way button pictured above? Q2) What settings do i need to flick in ELMConfig so the car knows it has powerfold/puddle lamps (I have a modified ELM327 clone with an MS CAN switch)? Q3) Is there any mirror learning procedure required so the car knows how much to fold the mirrors in or out (like global opening/closing for the windows)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    Fiesta wing mirror

Hello everyone, new to both the forum and Ford here. Apart from the occasional uncomfortable crunch when trying to reverse the brand new (Less than 5 months old now) 2015 Fiesta 125 EcoBoost Titanium X that we recently bought, and a few minor scratches on the boot door and the trim in front of the passenger seat that I should’ve mentioned to the dealer when I noticed them a week or so after purchase, I’ve been happy with the car so far. As usual though, there’s always a but; a few days ago I was having one of them days and I caught the passenger mirror while reversing, luckily though I realised what was happening soon enough, pulled forward slowly and the mirror eased itself back in position (It was pushed towards the front of the car). It was a very minor spring like catch that I was sure the mirror could take, however to double check and save myself the hassle of worrying, few minutes later I pulled over to test it, tried to adjust the mirror and power fold it to see if I caused any damage but everything was working fine. When I got back home later that day I decided to give it a deeper inspection and that’s when I wasn’t happy, a little bit of a cosmetic discolouration on the black frame around the mirror itself which I think is easy to remove using one of Autoglym’s rubber and bumper cleaners (Hopefully!) But the serious problem now is that the mirror itself was (and still is) solid in place, but the mirror housing that’s attached directly to the passenger door was loose and a bit fiddly, so I looked inside the door and found the round rubber cover and thought I’d take a look, found the nut, got the tools to tighten it, but it was tight already, worrying that I might break anything if I try to tighten it any harder, I left it and decided to look at the loose housing part, couldn’t see anything physically wrong with it and it was getting dark and late so I left it. Next chance I got to check it again for further inspection, I still couldn’t see anything wrong, so being the ‘geeky’ guy that I am, I decided to take the whole thing off for a more detailed inspection! It’s a bit hard to get deeper into the mirror assembly with the cable still connected, but I managed to pull the ‘foam’ cluster inside the plastic housing that’s attached directly to the door and I think I found what’s wrong: 2 ‘melted’ plastic style bolts that were holding the plastic housing onto the mirror’s aluminum chassis which bolts onto the door are broken, I can see where they should’ve been but I couldn’t find them anywhere; during that inspection session I managed to break a very thin ‘locator’ like piece of extra fragile aluminum (Quality is rubbish! Once the bolt was a bit loose and the mirror started moving a bit I heard it snapping!) Luckily though, that doesn’t affect how solid the mirror is cause it’s as solid as it was before now, it did however make it a complete nightmare to align the mirror back in place! I did it though and it’s solidly attached to the car, tested it at nearly 80 mph and still intact! I tried to look online to see if anyone’s got the same problem and it turned out that many people seem to have complained about their Fiesta’s wing mirror coming loose somehow, some just need bolt tightening, and some need the whole thing replacing! And I even found out that if your LED lights at the bottom of the mirror died you’ll need to replace the whole mirror if you want them working again! Now I realise that I’m boring everyone in here, but I honestly don’t think it’s my poor parking skills that morning that caused the problem, I did catch the mirror reversing, but it really wasn’t bad enough to cause any damage, and to be honest, the mirror should be sturdy and solid enough to take more at even higher speeds. So now I am happy in one way that I know about it, and it is solid enough to trust it on higher speed, it’s just annoying to know that your new car isn’t as solid as it should be! But I’m not sure what the next step should be, I will take it to a Ford garage (probably the same one we bought it from), but the question now: Should they do it under warranty? Or will they try to say that it’s negligence on my behalf and that voids their warranty? (Specially considering the fact that I went all DIY on it taking it off myself?). I’m sorry for the long post, but it seems like a rather unusual problem that I didn’t expect to happen to be honest, has anyone else had any similar problems? Or have anyone noticed their mirrors shaking a bit on higher speeds like some people described? I’m in a bit of a loss as to whether it was me that caused the problem that morning or if that just drew my attention to an already existing problem that I never noticed! Thank you for reading this, and for responding if you did
  13. I have just baught a second hand 2012 Ford Focus 1.6 tdci titanium and it only has one power folding mirror which is the drivers side. At first I thought it was just either a fuse had gone or a faulty moter but on expection, I've discovered that the passanger side mirror is not power folding. My first question is; Is it normal for a car to have one power folding mirror? my second question is; Can I just replace it with a power folding mirror and because I've already got the button and one folding mirror, will the passanger side just work as well?
  14. Hi, Recently purchased some electric mirrors from a 2006 Fiesta ST that I planned to place on my 2003 Fiesta Zetec. I currently have manual mirrors. I have purchased wiring loom for the conversion. Any recommend instructions?? Thanks!! :)

Side Mirror Remove , Focus Mk2

Please i want to remove my hall side mirro but i need some tutorial with pictures becouse i havent done ti before. My mirrors are with heating and electric so i must be carefull. Aprritiate your help!
  16. You can find below the steps needed to replace the mirror indicator bulbs/ remove the housing on a mk7 Fiesta. The process is pretty simple, takes about 10 mins and only needs one person and a screwdriver. I was removing the cover to replace the bulbs with chrome ones but the same process applies for pretty much any work you want to do on the mirrors. The reason I have written this guide is that whilst the process is simple it does require you to apply a fair bit of pressure to plastic parts which is always a worry if you don't know exactly what you're doing. From my experience the job doesn't endanger your mirror glass as you pretty much leave that alone and you're most at risk of snapping one of the plastic clips on the housing. On the up side though they all seem surprisingly sturdy so as long as you're careful you will be fine. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3
  17. HI Everyone! I have a 2008 Focus Zetec auto, and i am looking to retro fit the auto headlights and maybe auto wipers to it. I know i need to see if i have the correct wiring, however i was wondering if there was anyone they could help me establish this?! Also i will need to change the config for the car, i used to have a vauxhall astra and could do it on there however it's a little different with a ford. Not sure i would like to mod the ELM reader myself, or pay ford £70! I'm guessing that i would need: Auto headlamp switch Auto Wiper stalk Sensor and new mirror? My mum has a 62plate zetec when you open the doors and it is dark it automatically puts the side lights on (also when you unlock it) when you close a door they go off and then when you open on the come on, is this possible also? Not in any rush to get this done however would be cool if i could do it. TIA! Jonathan
  18. New to the club! Recently got a fiesta zetec 5dr mk7 & it has powerfold door mirrors. I want to put wind deflectors on all doors but I'm worried the mirrors will catch/rub/flex the deflectors when they fold in. Anybody got a 5dr with deflectors & pwrfld mirrors? If so how does it cope? Thanks.
  19. Hey guys, I have bought a couple of orange LED bulbs for my side mirror indicators, did a detango for my front and back indicators so thought it would look good. Anyone have any experience getting the glass off, or changing the bulbs? Tried to just look around, pulling a bit, but cant really figure out if you need to change it from behind the mirror? Any advice much appreciated! :)
  20. Hello all! My passenger side wing mirror recently got ploughed by a pillar when reversing from a parking space. Suffice it say its knackered, and i think it seems to have pulled the plate in which the wing mirror is bolted to the car so the mirror is sticking out at an awkward angle. I was wondering if anyone would know what this would cost to fix, and whether or not replacing the mirror myself would be a viable option. Thanks.
  21. Hi there Our left wing mirror was smashed(Vandalised)and we've been told that we need a full new unit as the a bit behind the glass where the glass connects was damaged too? It's a year 2004 Ford Fiesta LX and I was wondering how much one would cost and where best to get it from as I hear they are pretty expensive if bought directly from ford?Any help/advice is much appreciated.Thank you.
  22. Hey guys I have a style + 2009 fiesta was wondering if I could add powerfold mirrors to it? Does anybody know or have done it before Also I was thinking of changing the cd player and screen to the zetec one would this work? And would be compatible for the link to lock on the powerfold mirror
  23. Hi all, So for weeks I have been wondering what was vibrating on the inside of my Fiesta Titanium 2010 as it has been driving me nuts. It doesn't happen all the time, only when driving over slightly uneven ground/bumps etc. Sounded so much like the window making a noise which does also happen in my car when the window is open (annoying common fault on these model apparently). However after a lot of padding out different sections of the door frame/pockets etc, I managed to find the cause of the problem. The noise is actually on the outside and is the wing mirror, where the mirror section vibrates somehow as if its not fully clipped on or something - very strange. I tested this as the noise was apparent when I closed the passenger door (as the vibration passed through making a noise), but if I applied pressure on the mirror then closed the door, it didnt make the noise. I have tried using bits of black foam to pad out the sides but doesnt solve the problem - not to mention it looks fairly obvious. <_< Anyway, my question is.. does anyone have instructions on how to remove the mirror and check out whats going on? I cant really see how it is connected on. Any help/pictures or even solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
