Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Mk2 Focus 2.0TDCI -Issues

Hi, I hope someone can help me.. I have a 2007 mk2 focus 2.0TDCI, it runs ok most of the time but it will often go into limp mode and the turbo cuts out (one or the other normally, but can come together). The engine light does come on often on reset after limp mode, (turning off and on again gets rid of the limp). the engine fault code reads DPF Ash Accumulation. I have changed the DPF, EGR valve, DPF pressure sensor, all coming in around £1000 so getting frustrated now. the only think I can think now is a wiring loom chafing or the hoses for the pressure sensor, but haven't checked yet. the only other thing to not is that every now and then when holding at a constant rev, like on the motorway, it can have a jumpy ride for a couple of seconds, but this clears if you give it a little more throttle. Have noticed that the turbo seems to slowly cut out as well, maybe when the car is warmed up? this doesn't clear when you reboot the car as it does with limp mode. Help!! Thanks
  2. I have for sale a 2 door cortina GT. During my last road trip to Greece , I came across this fantastic 2 door ford Cortina GT mark 2. The owner told me the car has been off the road since 2007.He imported the car to Greece in 1977 and he was driving the car daily for 30 years. I've been told that when he left the car in 2007, it was running. He said the engine should be ok , but this hasn't been tested by me. In addition he explained there is a leak in the fuel tank so caution needed in this area. The original log book shows that the first registration is 1977 , so I dont know what the exact year of manufacture is and also states that is a cortina lotus 175 GT. The car is in need of full restoration , interior is in good condition. I have attached pictures for you to look at. For anymore information and more photos dont hesitate to contact me - 0775 676 8703 Petros
  3. Brake Fluid re-fill

Hi, Just checked my oil and noticed the brake fluid container hidden at the back under the windscreen was low. It's very close, if not on the Min line. Brakes, clutch etc still running/feeling fine and no lights! I've downloaded a Focus manual but not 100% its correct for the UK spec as it has a lot of US references. Does anyone know what type/level/grade of brake fluid I'll need for a 06 plate MK2 1.6 petrol Focus LX. Thanks!
  4. Hi CAR: 2008 Mk2 Ford Focus 1.6tdci Zetec, 94k, FSH. ISSUE: Went into limp mode, diagnosed as DPF codes. PRIOR TO ISSUE: very good running order with full service from Ford and some reputable garages. Returned average 55mpg. DURING ISSUE: Ran car approx 800 miles in limp more without any problems other than the usual lack of power. Returned average 35mpg. ACTION: Finally got round to major service including (new) timing belt, water pump, full service, glow plugs, DPF, EGR and ECU & manual regen. Injector cleaner/fuel additive may have been added by the garage but not too sure. (BTW - the initial problem stemmed from failing glow plugs that got masked by the DPF codes. The DPF was absolutely fine but because the glow plugs weren't picked up in the codes the DPF got clogged and then ironically failed too). RESULT: after the works the car drives like new car with max power. However the fuel consumption/mpg is still averaging the 35 mpg mark. THE QUESTION: WHY??? Any help, advice or guidance would help me stop me the scratching of my head especially having forked out £800 on parts and labour :/ Q
  5. Hi , let me show my car . I drive it every day

  7. Hi, I'm not sure if I have seen FRONT camber kit for the Focus Mk2 or Mk2.5, and I would appreciate some inputs or feedback from those who've actually installed one in their cars. If yes, could you possibly link me to a vendor (or vendors) who might be selling the same. Thanks!
  8. I have consistent problems with my Bonnet release on my Ford Focus Mark 2. It's the sliding rod type. While getting the parts to repair it for the third time I came across this alloy version on AliExpress. I just wondered if anyone had tried this? And if so did it improve the reliability of the bonnet release, or is it just a shiny gimmick? Any feedback much appreciated!
  9. MK2 revs

Hi, I've recently got a MK2 1.6 LX and I'm not sure if the revs are high or standard. When I'm in fifth doing 70 it's at 3,200 which is about 2-300 more than my old 1.6 MK1 Zetec did. Is this at the right level or does it need adjusting?
  10. Hi I had a look at removing a focus mk2 windscreen today. Could do with a little advise before I continue though. I have got the wire to cut through the adhesive. Do you need to take the trim on the edge of the screen out first.i tried to do this, but it kept breaking off. Not sure if it should come out with the screen, or to take it out first. I' assuming a new screen doesn' come with the trim on it. Just wondered if anyone had any experience in this area. I would be great full of anyone' input.

  12. hi everyone, I'm quite new to the site and wondered if anyone could help with a problem, I have an 2007 3dr focus 1.8 climate and since I bought the car 2 months ago the air con hasn't worked. I thought it just needed a re-gas but i've had that done and it still doesn't work. a mate of mine has had a quick look and has said the clutch on the compressor isn't engaging, and there is no power at the pump. after reading a few threads I'm thinking it could be the low pressure sensor, now ive checked the wiring on both high and low sensors and couldn't find any problems but I didn't want to change them as I would loose the gas in the system.is there a way of checking if the sensors are the problem without changing them ? I do have forscan and a modified elm327 usb
  13. Hi all. I have a 2005 Ford Focus Mk2 that I bought last year. When I got it the air con was noisy and didn't cool. Since then: I had it serviced and a split pipe replaced between the compressor and the condenser. After a few weeks it stopped working again and I had the condenser radiator replaced. A couple of months later and it died again and needed a new seal (I'm not sure where). It's been working for a couple of months now, but it's dying again The condenser and seal were done by a garage in Plymouth, but I've since moved to Guildford although I often visit Poole. So can anyone recommend a specialist near Poole or Guildford that might be able to sort it once and for all? Or might I have more luck with a Ford dealer?

  17. Which Radio Do I Need To Buy?

Hello Just purchased first ever Focus, it is the last of the mk2's before the 2.5 on an 08 plate, there is no stereo in it, I can see from various places on the internet it came with the CD6000 model, problem is on Ebay there is loads of different ones, which is the right one? The Sony MP3 version would be great, will it work? What is the best one I can fit in it for easy plug and play? Thanks in advance

  21. Focus mk2

  22. Hi everyone My Focus mk 2.5 diesel fuel pump died on me recently & i manged to get a used one for free-although it was from a mk1 i think. When this was tried it didn't work. I also was given the control module that was under the back seat but have been unable to locate this module in mine. I read online that it is located under the passenger side seat but have looked there & also the under the drivers side. Just wondered whether Ford decided to move it in the mk2.5? If anyone could shed any light on this it would be good! I realise it could be that the pump i was given is faulty-what's the best way to accertain this?
  23. I have just gotten my first ford, a beautiful mk2 ford focus titanium, i want to protect my key and i am looking for a key cover, i can find ones with the key but not keyless, any help ? Thank you :)
  24. Exterior grey trim

I've recently bought a 2007 ford focus and ice got a query regarding the grey exterior trim, such as the bottom part of the bumpers and the grey trim just underneath the boot door. Can these be replaced with anything a bit nicer looking? Or is it literally a case of having them removed, sprayed and reattached? Tia
  25. Hi all, on the 22nd October, 4 months after passing my driving test I purchased my first car. A 2005 mk2 Ford Focus Zetec Climate 1.6 petrol for 1175 GBP. I live in the north east of Scotland and got it from Edinburgh so 4 months of no driving having to do 170 miles was enough to get me used to the car. Being my first car my knowledge was limited and as time has passed the car had a few problems. Overall by now I have spent around 3000 GBP on the car not including the price of the car to begin with and although it has had problems the car I feel has been brought back to life. As I have owned this car I have learned more and more about cars in general. Always had a high interest in cars but obviously it grows when you get your first car. Anyway enough rambling. This is the car as I bought it > Then to current day > Things that have been done/repaired: (DIY mods) Exterior -tinted tail lights, head lights, indicators, fog lights, reversing lights/rear fogs -xenon white headlights, sidelights, full beam lights, registration lights, reversing light -sunstrip -wind deflectors -refurbed and painted alloys -carbon fiber wrapped plastic trim above fog lights -painted front grill -debadged the 'focus' and 'zetec' from the back -brake drums painted black -rear ford badge 'tinted' black -mudflaps rear and front Interior -new gear gaitor -carbon fiber wrapped central climate control panel, lower geat gaitor panel, steering wheel inserts -blue pvc trim round central climate control panel and air vents -leds in footwell -blue st style mats -aftermarket double din stereo (bluetooth aux etc.) -xenon white interior light, boot light -seatbelt harness covers -circular climate control knobs (Non-DIY mods) Exterior -custom made catback exhaust system Interior - N/A (DIY Repairs) Front brake discs and pads Full service (Garage Repairs) 2x Front wheel bearings 1x rear coil spring 2x rear shock absorbers New timing belt New spark plugs and leads 2x rear shock top mountings front suspension arm bush New clutch New handbrake New water pump New stock exhaust (before the custom catback) Plans for the future: Tint the back windows Paint the lower bumper black (the grey plastic) Paint the spoiler black (instead of grey plastic) Paint the brake calipers (blue or black undecided) Possibly get side skirts/bumpers (unlikely) Fix up the rust spots on the wings and sills Change colour of lights in instrument cluster and central panel Will get better photos/exhaust videos once the weather improves.
