  1. Hi, I have a 2011 mk7 fiesta zetec s that has recently been losing power. When accelerating I've noticed a rattling noise coming from the engine it then suddenly loses some power and the rattling stops. For instance I will be accelerating in 3rd @ around 3k rpm and watching a steady climb then suddenly you feel the call get slowed down and the acceleration drastically drops. My mechanic has had the spark plugs changed and lines cleaned out but to no avail. No errors when plugged in either. Really annoying when overtaking. As well as this the power loss affects the gears, suddenly it begins to bog down and stall in gears that it is usually fine with. For instance juddering in 4th @ 30mph which it is usually ok with. Anyone else had problem or similar and found a solution? Thanks.

Recently purchased a fiesta red edition with 33,000 on the clock and have found that it has a creaking noise coming from the boot latch at low speed (*anything up to 20mph), it sounds like the latch and it also makes a noise when going over bumps. This is getting very annoying so does anyone have any suggestions or should I take it back to Fords?
  3. Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can help I had an smax for 4 years, I put on 40,000 miles, never had a mechanical issue, or engine issue just usual wear and tear replacements. At idle only, fly wheel sounding a bit lumpy. The clutch started to go so took to local garage (a mitsubishi dealer) for replacement (clutch and flywheel £1400). Comes out of workshop with a new metallic rattle that. The owner says bit of a rattle but not to worry. On first drive to work rattle continues directly with revs until 2500 then disappears, reappearing with every drop in revs, eg braking and corners. Then 20 mins in a loud bang, a change in engine rattle note, 5 mins pulling up steep hill, (good power), complete engine failure on a dangerous road with no signal. 4 hours later back to garage. They tell me the fuel pump is seized (never any symptoms of failing pump in 40000 miles), therefore the pump done it and Engine probably dead, need new engine, they didn't touch pump during repair there fore not their fault. Sounds like very convenient explanation for them. Read elsewhere that loose engine mount bolt might sound like that. Anyone got any thoughts as to likely cause after such repair?

    Ecoboost Rattle?

    Does anyone else’s ecoboost focus have a rattle at the low end when putting the revs on? If I’m stationary and put my foot down, not hard, there’s a rattle as the revs increase. Not sure if it’s somethibf loose inside the car, something rattling in the engine or if it’s all perfectly fine and that’s what they do? It sounds like a chain rattling. I’ve filmed it and uploaded it here if anyone can advise?
  5. Hi again, As many of you may know, I waited 4 months for my beloved 2013 Fiesta Powershift Titanium X to be built, and was finally delivered on 19th July 2013. About 2 months after, I started to notice a grinding/rattle noise whenever the car changed gear at low speed. And started to make the car judder when pulling away. (Which I assumed was down to tyres needing to be inflated, but turns out I was very wrong) I know you can always hear SOME noise from an auto and this one is a dual clutch so I figured it was just down to that, so I ignored it. Over the winter however, it has got much much MUCH worse, and I took it into Benfield Ford. Not once, but 3 times. Got fobbed off with "...just needed a software update..." Didn't make a difference, and just when I was at the brink of just ignoring the noise and the juddering and struggling to change gear, I went to Oxford (300 miles from my home in North Yorkshire) and it got so bad that it was making the noise constantly. To cut a long story short, RAC put me in a Premier Inn for the night, RAC bloke comes out in morning and takes it for a spin - it made a horrific scraping noise (to which he said "Well blow me down.....). He followed me half way home and then we met in service station and told me I could attempt to drive it home as he thought it would most likely be safe (but to pull over and call them back if need be) or he could recover me home. I chose to try drive it home, which I did do. Then once I was back I took it into Ford and this time I DEMANDED the HEAD of the service department comes out with me for a drive until it made the noise...... Not a sound for 20 minutes (though plenty of juddering and struggling to change from 1st to 3rd), and at this point I'm practically BEGGING the car to make the noise! But nothing.....until right when we're pulling back into Benfield, when she let's loose "Grrrrrriiinndddd.....and the service manager's face goes pale. He knew there was something VERY seriously wrong with that gearbox.... That was 3 weeks ago... I've been given the most horrific Peugeot 308 hire car (I know beggars can't be choosers, but this thing is the epitome of crap french build quality -or lack of- and it point blank refuses to reverse) and my Fiesta is STILL parked in exactly the same space at Benfield that she has done for 3 weeks. Apparently they are replacing the 'Clutch Assembly?!?!' (Not entirely sure what that is) I rang up earlier to find out if there was any update and got told the EXACT same thing I was told this time last week... "We've got all your parts, we're just waiting for some sealant. Could be a few days, could be a few weeks.." - Now, is it me, or is that pretty disgraceful that: A: My brand new car needs repairs so severe that they need 'sealant?' & B: That I'm being made to wait all this time for some sealant that apparently could even be out of production, rendering this whole ordeal to continue for several weeks, if not months from now. Apparently, this is a very common fault with the PowerShift gearbox on all Ford Automatic Models, but more commonly with Fiesta & Focus. So my question is, do any of you, or have any of you had the same problem with an Automatic (Powershift) gearbox??? How long did it take to be solved??   6. Hello all, New to this forum so not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this question? Purchased a Mk6 Fiesta with 56k on the clock. Not bad for a 2007 model, or so I thought. Recently started to have difficulty selecting 1st gear, changing gears, and stiff to get out of reverse. Local mechanic said it sounded like clutch drag, so had them replace the clutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder / throw out bearing. When the old clutch was out of the car, they said it had worn unevenly. Problem selecting / changing gears now solved, woo! However, since having the car back, after a good drive with everything warmed up, a 'rattle' develops when in neutral and clutch pedal up, which stops when the clutch pedal is pressed. This is a new noise since having the clutch kit replaced. The internet typically suggests this would be a gearbox / input shaft bearing issue, but I am wondering the possibility of it being the TOB as the noise has only been apparent since the new clutch has been fitted, and I had never heard it with the old clutch? Only happens when hot and after some decent driving (e.g. to the shops and back would not really cause the noise to surface, but a run down the dual carriageway and back would). No noise / squealing when clutch is depressed, but wondering if the 'rattle' is from the TOB just touching the pressure plate when in neutral? Not really noticed any unusual noises when driving, just this rattle in neutral sometimes. Could it also be low gearbox oil if they have not topped the box off when replacing the driveshaft? I asked the garage if they would change the oil when changing the clutch but they said it was a sealed box so they could not change it? Surely some oil must have come out of the box when removing the driveshaft and i'm wondering if they haven't replaced it and this could be causing the noise? Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can go back to them with a better idea of whether it could be the TOB or something else such as trans fluid. Only had the clutch changed last week, with the rattle in neutral present from the day I got it back.

    ***** Rattles

    So I have a 2009 Fiesta and i'm getting a rattle coming from the centre console, right below the plastic trim around the gaiter for the gear stick. The rattle is coming from the join between two trims on the left side of the centre console, they seem to be very loose for some reason and I need to either keep them together or force them apart where they overlap. I've tried taping them together, filling the gap (that's causing the rattle) with polyfilla, tissues, masking tape, duct tape, foam pads but it just looks awful. Anyone got any tips to help? This car is doing my head in!!

    Subwoofer

    Me and my dad have fitted a subwoofer into my Fiesta and it sounds amazing! My only problem is the rattle sound. You can't hear the rattle from the inside but if you are outside of the car then you can hear it. I don't want to be "that guy" who thinks his car sounds cool but in reality everyone is shaking their heads at the rattle lol :P Would anyone know the best way to get rid of the rattle? It sounds like is coming from the rear bumper.
  10. Hi all, Focus Mk2, 1.8 TDCi Ghia (How do I know if I might have a Mk2.5?) Got an awful dull metallic rattling from the rear drivers side, seems to go away when I brake, doesn't occur with large bumps - mostly just on rough or uneven surfaces, VERY audible from outside the car (people on the street turn to look - embarrassing!). I've secured the heat sheilding and it's not the exhaust - seems to come from the wheel area. I suspect caliper or brake pad rattle, although I can't move anything with my hand when the wheel is off. Couple of questions... Anyone had and solved something similar? Could it be shock absorber or top mount (ex-Ford tech suggested this)? Should my brake pads have anti-rattle shims? Doesn't have them at the moment (I've disassembled the caliper, cleaned, greased and refitted - no difference, or seems to be getting worse.) Do I need these shims, pic attached (or something similar). The caliper retainer spring/clip thinggies were seized in and I suspect the last time the brake pads were replaced (not by me) it was just bent out of the way and bent back again afterwards. Should I replace the spring clips - could it be that? Any help and advice gratefully received. Sam.
  11. Hi All, I have a 2007 Ford Focus MK2 and an interior noise is driving me mad. It seems to be coming from the rear passenger's seatbelt. The noise itself is really difficult to describe. It's almost like an electrical buzz and the pitch / volume generally differs depending on speed and road surface. Harsher surfaces at lower speeds seem to kick it off more. Somewhat intermittent as on rare occasions I can have a short trip where I won't hear it at all. I've tried removing the trim from around the seatbelt housing and tightened the bolt but this has made little to no difference. If anything it's been louder than ever in the last few days and I can hear it over the radio unless I have it at a ridiculous volume. Any ideas before I take a large hammer to it? Cheers!
  12. I've had my fiesta for just over a year. It's been sat on a mates drive for about a month as swapped cars. We got my car back yesterday and noticed a rattling noise. It's a noise like a spanner hitting metal, it's coming from the drivers side, my other half's brother has a look and has no idea what it can be. Has anyone got any ideas???

    Rattle sound from dashboard

    Hey all, Abit of a strange but VERY annoying issue. While drive over 30mph on certain roads that are not smooth there is a annoying rattle coming from the centre of the dash. It sounds like its under the fans. The sound is like a piece of plastic vibrating - its sooooooo annoying! Any ideas what it could be? Had a look online seems like a few others have it but the best solution I found was to just turn the volume up lol Thanks

    Passenger Speaker Static

    I have a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The passenger speaker sometimes has a weird static. It happens with all input devices from bluetooth audio, sirius XM, or radio. Even the sound from activating the voice commands sound is this way. It doesn't happen all the time, and I can't determine what is the cause or solution for the problem. Every time I am about to take it into Ford, it doesn't have this issue. Sometimes it will be perfectly fine for months. Other times it will sound like it has a static type noise distortion. It almost sounds like a radio station with bad reception. Any ideas?

    A Pillar Rattles

    Hi i have owned my fiesta for over a year now and when i bought the car i had the A-pillars off and covered them in foam and sound deadening to stop the rattles this worked for about 6 months and now the rattle is back and no matter what i do i cannot make it stop. Anybody got a fix for this?. I have tightened all loose clips by shoving bits of card behind them and covered all clips in thin foam and greased them but the rattle is still there. its as if it sits loose as if i push on it hard enough whilst driving it stops

    Hi all, when I turn my AC on it rattles and vibrates very loudly, I think it may be the fan. The car was serviced in September with no problems. Does anyone have an idea what this may be and what the cost is to repair it? Thanks

    Boot Rattle Mk6 Fiesta

    Been driving me nuts for months, my fiesta mk6 has a huge noise when it goes over any bumps in the road big enough to shake the car, the boot rattles so much, I've been on forums and they've said to put electrical tape on the slam part and then put a rubber washer in the mechanism it self, i've done this and after opening the boot a couple of times the boot returns, if any one has any suggestions or the same problem please let me know. Thanks

Hey all, I've noticed a few complants here and there about rattles in our Fiestas, so I am hoping that we can gather all of them in this one thread, to better give current and coming owners an overview. People can write about the kind of rattle (what does it sound like, is it loud or minor), when does it rattle (constant or intermittent, when cold/warrm), where does it rattle (cabin/front/rear, boot, engine bay) AND mots importantly: have you had it fixed (yourself, garage, warranty). I'll start: I have an intermittent rattle somewhere in the right side of the car, passenger side since I live in DK. It's a plastic rattle, mostly heard when the car is not warmed up yet, disappears after 10 min. or maybe the music drowns it out. It's not loud and probably not something that can be fixed. The plastics in the Fiesta are not the best quality.
  19. Hello. My front left wheel has a rattle/knock. It's not my anti roll bar link as I've changed that. I hear it when I'm going over bumps and lumps in the road. And sometimes when I turn. I have a video of the sound but I've not worked out how to get that on here yet. Any ideas? When When I had my MOT recently, there was a slight bit of oil dampness under the rubber sleeve of my shock. Could this be the cause? All advice helpful! Thanks
  20. Hi, Some funny symptoms on my 56 plate Mk2 Focus. It's always done this to some extent but seems to have got a lot worse in the past 2 years since the cambelt and the clutch were replaced. * Clicking/rattling sound when under engine load (going up hill or accelerating hard or with a heavy car) * Sound like it's either coming from the engine bay or from near the front of the car around the clutch area * Seems to happen mostly in 3rd and 4th and 5th gears when hitting above 2,000 rpm until about 4,000 when putting on a fair amount of gas. * Occasionally under these conditions get a much louder rhythmical clicking (which the video below shows), but normally is irregular and sounds mechanical/metal/clicking (can't seem to get this to show up on a video, but can hear inside the cabin). It is def not any under-car heat shield rattles (these are all checked and speedbolted) I think it could be the engine pinking, but have one eye on the either the clutch or some other aspect of the engine- is it even possible for the clutch to be clicking without slipping? What do people think - anything similar experienced?
  21. Hi, I am new to this site but after some advice. My 2013 Fiesta 1.0 ecotechnic recently started smelling strongly of petrol. I took it to the garage and they replaced a leaky fuel pipe under warranty. Ever since then (about 3 weeks) my car has a rattle - its not that loud but you can hear it even with radio on and its one of those annoying rattles, like a bottle or your sunglasses or something in a door pocket, but its not as I emptied my car of everything! Generally its louder when the engine is cold and dies away a bit once its warm. I've taken it back to the garage and they can hear the rattle too, they referred it back via warranty and apparently the new part is slightly different (and that's just the way it is now) and so therefore this noise is normal?! I cant say I understand this, especially as the hire car they gave me was almost identical (same engine etc but being one or two years newer) and doesn't make this noise. Any ideas on the real cause and what I should do next? I don't want to be left with a car with an annoying rattle and am concerned that if I ever decided to sell that no buyer will believe me that the rattle is normal! Thanks in advance!

    Parcel Shelf Rattle!

    Hi guys, I have had my fiesta Zetec s for a few months now and I notice a constant rattle noise that is coming from my parcel shelf and I can see the shelf vibrating slightly, i was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if their was a fix. :(
  23. Apologies if this is covered in another topic. Hi everyone, My focus has developed a rattle. At cold not so much but when hot it's fairly loud. Sounds like a bag of bolts rumbling around. Bad in neutral or in gear with clutch pressed down but as you engage clutch noise goes away for the most part. Clutch works fine and the noise more or less went away for a few months but has returned worse than before. As you turn engine off the last sound as the engine stops sounds like a flywheel coming to a stop which I'm fairly sure is where the noise is coming from. Is this the clutch plate or DMF? I took it to a dealer when it was not as bad a few months ago when it was more sporadic and he couldn't get it to make a noise - sods law!! Any thoughts appreciated. Anyone???

    Rattle - Help Please

    Hi My 64 plate Fiesta Zetec S has an intermittent rattle on the trailing edge of the drivers door. When I apply pressure to the door glass or nudge down the electric window by a millimetre the rattle goes. So I think its something to do with the door glass. The rattle is driving me nuts and ruining my appreciation of the car. Please can anyone offer me some advice on what this rattle might be and how to cure it please ?. The car is 13 months old. Ford have stripped down and re-built the door once, but to no avail. Thank you.
  25. Hi Everyone, I own a 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI. I have a very annoying rattle which comes from the gear shift cable. I have taken all of the housing off from my gear stick and gear cable and there doesn't seem to be any rattling there. I think the gear cable has been knocked off a clip in the engine bay when my car has been in the garage and thus causing the cable to rattle against a clip. Could someone please tell me where any clips are which hold the gear cable in place or if you believe the problem is something else! It is driving me mad!!
