Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Someone please make my mind up for me! ive got a holding deposit on a 16 plate ST2, with 14k on the clock. It’s got the nav pack and the style pack and all is grand. then I started thinking I might want the extra gizmos of the ST3 - for the same price as the ST2 I can get a 16 plate, but that’s on 30k miles.. are the extra gadgets worth it? I can get an ST3 with lower mileage but it’s £2000 more than the ST2 and a little more than I’d like to spend unless the extras are mind blowing? cheers!
  2. HELP BUYING 2006 1.8D Focus

Hi everyone, just signed up to the forum so I'm sorry if i break any rules with this post. I wanted to ask the help of you ford enthusiasts I want to buy a Ford focus 2006 1.8 (1753cc) Diesel Manual 5 door hatchback Its got 12 months MOT and cosmetically looks good, only thing is that it has 160,000 miles on the clock What do i need to make sure has been replaced in a car this old, and roughly how long ago? Like turbo, cambelt ect... Many thanks for any help everyone! Alex
  3. Hi everyone, I'm new here. I recently bought a 2001 Ford Focus 1.6 LX from a used car dealer in my local town roughly 3 months ago. At first I was really happy with the car, but a couple of weeks into ownership I noticed that the oil was being used quite a bit. I thought this was normal for the age of the car but recently it has started using oil at a more alarming rate i.e. half a dipstick a week! which i find to be quite alarming. I was wondering whether I would be fully within my rights to return it to the dealer for a full refund? Tia
  4. Hi All Have just picked up a Ford Mondeo, 3 owners, 84k on the clock. Had a sparse service history, for the first 50k it was Ford serviced, then last 2 owners, it was serviced 3 more times at 12k intervals. Alas the service booklet was lost on last sale, so I have to dig up the history. So have bought 1 years warranty for mechanical breakdown, just to cover myself from the dealer. Anything else I should be looking out for on the 2.2l TDCi? Has the dealer MOT and service this Friday for free, so will get them to fix anything that you guys bring up on this post. LOVE Fords, this now joins the Fiesta we have!
  5. Hello everyone, I recently purchased my first Ford Focus, its a MK3 2011 5dr hatchback 1.6 TDCI Zetec. Extremely pleased with the car and looking forward to doing lots of miles on it :) Anyway, this is my first post on the forum and Im hoping its in a correct thread, apologies if it isnt! Im looking for a rear tail light assembly o/s driver side with LED strips. Preferably with bulb holders and if possible even wing nuts (found out that the light missing a wing nut only after purchase). Ive checked ebay and amazon, both have it for about £80 new. And the preowned usually have a crack or two on them already. Checked on silverlake.co.uk but they don't have the same LED type of tail light only the halogen one :/ If anyone knows a good scrapyard around South coast or even has one themselves and want to sell it please let me know :) All suggestions are welcome Thank you in advance P.S. some thumbnails of existing left side tail light with bulb holders for reference.
  6. Buying Used Ford

Hi all, I'm looking let go of my 53 plate Mondeo 2.0 TDCi for something a little younger and with less miles on the clock (it's approaching 200k). I've had a look at some of the posts here and a buyers guide from auto express but would like some opinions. I've had Mk 2 Focus in the past but some of the things I've read are putting me of a bit. Do the diesel engines really have the most reported problems? I'd be looking at a 2006/2007 example with average mileage. I've read that the DPF can need replaced at cost around that kind of mileage, and that the dual mass flywheel can go if the car has been used for short journeys. What's peoples experiences of this age of focus? Are petrol models of that age less likely to suffer costly faults like that? And if so is it worth taking the hit on roads tax and choosing a 1.4 or 1.6 petrol instead? Any thoughts or opinions welcomed.
  7. Looking To Buy A Fiesta

Hello, Passed my test a few weeks ago and looking to buy a fiesta MK6 (02-08). I've been getting some quotes and the 1.25 is affordable, and is getting some good reviews for being reliable and generally one of the better first cars to get. I've done some research and the 1.25 comes with the Zetec and the Duratec engine, the only difference I can see is that the Zetec is a little faster. What other differences are there? Is it the same engine, changed slightly? Will it be more reliable, and is it the better choice ultimately? The speed difference isn't too important for me, but the cars which appear to have the Zetec engine in them seem to be more expensive (not just looking at the trim) although that might be because they appear to be a little bit more expensive. I've decided to sign up to the forum as you guys will have the expert opinion. Thanks, User26 - Happy to give any more information etc if needed to make a good decision :)
  8. What Would You Do?

Hi I am new to the forum today, but have driven Ford Fiestas for around twenty years now. I've tried a few other makes through the years but have always returned to the Fiesta. I currently have a 2011 Edge in the 1.4 Tdci engine, great mpg at around 60 for me. Miss the higher spec of the zetec and zetec blue that I had before. I saw a 2010 titanium 1.6 Tdci in black at a local garage for £9295 and it's only done 20,000 miles. Spec looks great and car seems in good condition. Then I thought it might be better just going for a brand new titanium in the ecoboost, on options. If I go for the used I would finance using ordinary hp? Am going to test drive an ecoboost this week. What would you do??? Thanks! Roddy
