Change Oil Light Or Something Else ?!?

Featured Replies

Evening all, On the way home tonight I got a warning light on the dash symbolising an oil can with a wavy line beneath. Had a look in the manual and it's not listed.

Checked the oil level, which is just short of max, as it had a change at 6k and only done 9.5k now. I didn't expect it to be that.

Started the engine again and it's still there.

Any ideas?

Is it safe to drive until I can get it in with ford?

Car is Fiesta MK7 1.6 TDCi Sep 2010

Cheers all...

Had the same the other week. It's the quality of oil warning light and means it needs to be changed.

Mine came up even though it had been serviced 1 month ago. The garage had not reset it, might be the same for you.

There is a way to turn it off.. From memory it was turn the engine off and put your foot on clutch and brake, then turn on ignition (not engine) and keep your feet on pedals for about 2 mins which resets the warning light.

Hi Jedilard, your right on the money. It has now started to throw up an additional message on the multi function screen in the centre of the dash, stating "Replace Oil at Next Service" As it was only done 4k miles ago. I'll just ignore it until the service due in September comes around.

Surprised this is not mentioned in the Owners Manual

Thanks again.

Glad it helped. When it came on for me and couldn't find it in the manual I had no idea what to do, didn't know if the engine was going to seize! They should include all warning light IMO.

If the warning light bugs you try my way to reset it.

My ZS has just done the same after 4k from new. Dealer just reset the system and didn't even look at oil level or quality. They must be aware its a little tempramental
