Problems With My Focus 1.6 Tdci 90 Hp

Featured Replies

Hi I have a problem with the Focus 1.6 TDCi 90 PS. Car while driving over 2500 rpm suddenly loses power, slows down and goes out. After re-activating the fault is gone. The car comes to 2000 rpm It's no problems. Is the reason is the crankshaft position sensor? I do not know where this sensor is located. Please help me. Thank you

Sounds very similar to the issue I had with my fuel filter...

When was it last replaced?

Hi

Also I thought so. Therefore, I take into account the fuel filter, so it was replaced 1.5 years ago has less than 13,000 km.

This time of year is hard on fuel filters. If you use the likes of cheaper fuel such as supermarkets, they can clog the fuel filter up.

Have you checked for any error codes?

Only Statoil fuel.

Errors

P0087

P1180

One of the guy on Polish forum, have the same problem. He said it was the crankshaft position sensor. I just do not know where this sensor is located.

The errors seem to relate to fuel so not sure about the crankshaft, it could be but its worth looking at the fuel delivery first...

Ok but crankshaft

It is one of the most important sensors for engine control. Based on the signal from the angular position of the crankshaft is calculated his speed. With that sensor signals from the computer is based on data which controls the ignition angle or fuel injection. Speed signal is used to stabilize the engine running at idle, remove the fuel vapor from the tank, control the operation of the intake manifold, variable-length work of determining variable valve timing

I have to disassemble the sensor and check its operation. If it will fit I will be the fuel filter.

And this is way to check this sensor.

Do you have some graphics where i find this sensor in this engine ?

I personally dont, but hopefully someone will.

Where is that crankshaft position sensor ?

Both of the codes refer to low fuel pressure.

Definitely a dirty fuel filter.

Crankshaft sensor is at crankshaft pulley it on back towards bulkhead I be defo look at fuel filter like James says an then possibly pump worst case but u wanna air blow out fuel lines to u buying cheap fuel by any chance

  • 1 year later...

Hi all, I have had a similar issue and wondered if you could help? I kept getting an engine system error and the car kept going into limp mode and sometimes not starting. Local garage changed the crankshaft sensor and I still have the same issue, now they say it could be an issue with timing belt but not sure what ( they want to spend 4 hours taking it all apart and then they say it could be a new engine needed). Another issue but not sure if connected is the timing belt keeps tearing up, even though it's been replaced twice now, they say it could be the alternator even though it is moving freely enough when they turn it manually?
