Im just enquiring really about a noise that sounds like a lawnmower type of sound when im staionary in the car and i move my steering wheel. It does have power steering my KA is 52 plate (2003) and it has just passed MOT only done 53k miles. The engine itself isnt quiet anyway when im stationary which i find quite annoying, just wondering if this is a natural thing for Ford KA's.

sounds like the radiator fan is running . is the car over heating ?

is the car up to temp when the noise is there as it maybe the thermostat is not working ?

or you may have a dodgy fan relay.

check you have water in the expansion tank ?

There is plenty of water and when i put my foot down to go the noise goes and the car sounds as it should.

I may of thought the timing would be to high i dont know :( lol

if you think timing then get it checked out.

you did not say the noise went when you put your foot down.

make a recording of the noise & post it up so we can hear & may have a better idea.

perhaps have the aux belt checked or the tensioner.

does the noise go when you revv the car ?
