Have I Bought A Dog?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have joined to get advice.

I bought a car about a month or so ago. So far, I have had these problems...

  1. Rear light went (was just a bulb)
  2. Discovered a leak
  3. Power steering went- replaced power steering pump - leak still there - leak is from the rack...
  4. Power steering rack is broken
  5. Front light is now not working
  6. Back light and break light isn't working (same one with the bulb)

That's about it. The guy I bought it off said it'd done 75k. Obviously it's only a 5 figure read out. Is there a way to check?

Any idea on the lights?

Basically, we took front light off to get at pump. Re-connected light, and it doesn't work. Battery then died and after driving around to charge up battery realised read passenger light is also dead. So is there likely to be a problem with electrics?

It's 51 plate car, so I wasn't expecting much. But is it worth carrying on with?

its up to you if you want to spend more money on also how much money did you buy it for if it was very cheep it not to bad spending a bit of money on it

Only £450. The rack isn't the major issue. It's more the lights that are worrying me. Are they a big issue with KAs?

if you are worried let a auto elec man have a look

Cheers. I have little knowledge of cars, hence why I joined. Thanks

If it barks you bought a dog, however, if it doesnt, you may have bought a lemon :p

Im sorry I couldnt resist.

Seriously though... are the light issues on the same side front and rear both left and right? its entirely possible the issue is more simply to do with the earth connections?

Without meaning to be rude or offensive... I think a lemon would be more useful in it's current state. :P

As Jeebs has said, check the earths. Older fords are notorious for bad earths as they age.
