Jon Bhoy
Hiya folks, Ok i am running round in circles here and need to get my head sorted with regards to Speakers for the car.Had some brilliant advice and searched for about a week trying to find the best set up but sadly had some personal events this week which has taken my concentration away so am putting my faith in your views (which without being a suck up,[eople on here i value their views WAY before Fords and you have always been an amazing help). Ok i upgraded the head unit from a base unit to the Sony 5 disk changer head unit (Car is 2010 Zetec s 3 door). but has standard Speakers . Tried to find out what was in the rears but havent had much success (and dont want to rip out the door card and look as i know i will never get it back in again haha) but had a few posts on another site saying dont worry about the rears just go for a good set up up front and when i get the money i will amp and sub woofer the boot with a punchy 10 inch (and use the side mount sub box the Guru that is Lenny posted way back). Now heres the issue . GF has said she will get the front Speakers for me for xmas (ah now theres romance!) but is pushing me to choose.I have the woofer in the door and the tweeter up by the wing mirrors. Now i remember being given this site by someone and have looked over and over but making no headway so asking if you had up to £100 which component set would you choose ?I really appreciate everyones input ! http://caraudiosecurity.com/speakers-subs_components_17cm-6-5-components-1/price-50-100 Cheers guys

Jon Bhoy
Always happy to give you a mention mate. You gave me lots of time and tips at the start of me being here and really appreciated it! Funny enough that was the first Speakers i looked at but the reviews seemed to say they were rather light when it came to bass levels.Someone here mentioned Panasonics being good yet on another site someone slated it hence why i am taking advice more from here. Brilliant guide, folk should read it for sure.

Each to there own though; I didn't listen to anyone when doing mine lol How about these? http://caraudiosecurity.com/prime-r1-series-r1652-s-6-5-2-way-component-system-speakers

Lenny
Blmey they did fit....how the heck did you do that.Your cars the bloomin tardis matey! ;-) I used to love RF stuff 20 years back so may be worth a punt!Cheers buddy.the grill comes off the factory panel, Remove factory tweeter, Put aftermarket tweeter in place and Mark out area, Gently trim out plastic using rotary tool, Trial fit tweeter every so often until snug fit. My rotary tool kit was a Christmas Gift from a very kind fellow member of the forum, It was purchased from Maplin Electronics and has cut out the ST Pod on the dash additional boot light aswell as many other jobs was under 30 pounds. Sorry to have hogged your thread up with pictures and side track info just saying 1" inch tweeters do fit

Jon Bhoy
Lenny its looking like i am going for these: http://caraudiosecurity.com/spg-17cs-17cm-components Did fancy the Hertz DSK165 but the depth was something like 70mm ! These are 61mm but read somewhere the MK2.5 has about 57mm room . Is this going to cause a major issue or do you reckon these wee beauties could pop straight in?
Lenny
Lenny its looking like i am going for these: http://caraudiosecurity.com/spg-17cs-17cm-components Did fancy the Hertz DSK165 but the depth was something like 70mm ! These are 61mm but read somewhere the MK2.5 has about 57mm room . Is this going to cause a major issue or do you reckon these wee beauties could pop straight in? Those Speakers linked look great and there power rating is the same as my own.😯Wow 70mm is massive depth compared to others; 😐 Are you sure it wasn't it including the grill?😕 My JL C3 650 are 64.8mm depth and no problems fitting in atall, Factory Speakers are quite shallow and come in to the car alot with the design of there plastic surrounds. When you fit the mk2 ford focus aftermarket Speakers adaptors; you will gain around 20mm of space between the face of the new speakers and the plastic door panel. because the aftermarket adaptors allow the speakers to recess in to the door that much further than stock. So you could fit some 10mm depth MDF 6.5" rings on top of the aftermarket speaker adaptors allowing for the 70mm speakers if desired. But I honestly think the efforts would outway the gains in performance, The above linked set look great to me, nobody will see the 70mm cone when fitted, plus sound wouldn't really be much different. I'm now trying for find measurement details of the "DEi Boom" 6.5" speaker baffles because there fitted in with my 64.8mm deep speakers with no problems aswell and I highly recommend fitting them. Says there 4" deep which is 101.6mm so your 70mm speakers would fit fine if desired without the use of any MDF spacer rings atall. The speaker baffles are available in all sizes and made of high-tech closed-cell polyethylene foam containing volcanic ash which encases the speaker to seal out dirt and moisture while providing a protective Shell. They also maximize speaker performance by isolating the correct frequency responses while damping reverberation in the sheet metal and panel-to-frame resonance. 👍 Looking forward to your progress After Christmas i was here this time last year 😀
