Mk3.0 1.6Tdci Transmission Issue? - Help!

Featured Replies

Hi there guys.

I have a 2011 mk3 Focus 1.6 Diesel (non ecoboost) with 45,000 miles on clock.

I was driving home normally the other day when suddenly I could no longer get the car in gear, it was impossible so I coasted to this point outside my house and nearly made it back!

However, when the engine is off it will slide into gear no trouble but the second the engine is running I can't.

It stumped the AA engineer so he got it recovered to my garage but they've not had chance to troubleshoot the issue yet.

If I start the engine in gear it'll drive normal, until I take it out of gear then it won't go back in.

ideas?

All help appreciated to help get car back on road.

Hi Charlie. That's krap luck you've got with your car. I've read that the early mk3's 1.6 tdci focus ' s had clutch issues. It may well be that with yours. Let us know how you get on and what's been done.

If you can get gears with the engine off but not on then it's a clutch fault. The clutch isn't disengaging when you press the pedal. How does the pedal feel? Any different?

Tom. Clutch feels fine. Springs back fine, no burning smell so must be hydraulic related.

Clutch master cylinder to that effect OR Low Gearbox Oil Level

How old is the fluid,

Do the brakes have any faults ?

UPDATE:

I have got the car back from the garage this afternoon and she is all fixed.

I was plagued with the appears to be common "leaking slave cylinder" fault contaminating the clutch plates. However, I was lucky in the fact that the slave cylinder failed before too much fluid was lost so my Dual Mass Flywheel was intact!

Still cost me £666 though!

Only issues now if anyone can help.

1. Start/Stop feature has stopped working. I think the garage disconnected the battery during the work and I think I need to reset the Start/Stop some how. Any Ideas?

2. Windows now don't go down all the way on their own? Is this fix as simple as other cars whereby you put them all the way down and hold, and complete in reverse?

Glad it was an easy fix, shame about the cost though.

Resetting the one touch windows is as simple as you say.

Not sure on the start stop but I would assume that's in the dash menu somewhere?
