Rusty Callipers

Featured Replies

Hi, just after some advice. My focus callipers are a little rusty. I want to get them painted, now is it easy enough to do yourself or should I take them to a garage that offers this service? Many thanks

Pretty straight forward to do yourself, plenty of youtube videos out there like this one

You could save quite a bit of money doing it yourself.

Hammerite works as well as any caliper paint so no need to buy over expensive stuff

I used Halfords tin of caliper paint before but it's quite watery I don't recommend it

Spray can is much better and faster 👍

mask area with newspapers and take.

I also used a tin of Hammerite Smooth Finish not hammers finish silver paint and brushed it on to read drums aswell as the spacer section of the discs 👌

Painted prior to having them fitted

lovely job there pal. Think I'll spray paint mine. Just need to make sure I mask everything off properly. Think I'll go for black or anthracite colour. Your brakes look great

I went for eBay seller no brand cross drilled discs

then some EBC GreenStuff pads good improvement and Ford fitted as part of service I just supplied parts I wanted.

Take care to mask up both sides identical otherwise the car will torque steer under acelleration to the side which has least paint coverage😂

Very nice

Black also expels heat better,

So in reality black gives more braking performance than any other colour even yellow 😦
