Sound Proof Recommendations

Featured Replies

I'm about to wire up my towbar electrics right now and just have removed the linings inside the booth area and I noticed It could do with some additional sound insulation. Thinking of leaving the booth space as it is after the wiring job is finished and order and install some insulation before putting it all back together. I don't like to spend silly money on (in my opinion overpriced car audio branded material.) Thinking of ordering bitumen pads to reduce the side panels/wheel arches and floor from drumming/booming still looking for the actual insulation material.

There's quite a lot of materials available in all price ranges... should I get self adhesive foam or buy glue and the cheaper felt or recycled foam? I realize the amount of noise transmitted into the cabin is mainly in the build construction of the entire vehicle just fancy to try and get the noise level down far as possible by reducing the vibrating of the panels and adding additional sound insulation.

Just wondering what other people have used in their Focus and how it has worked out? Was it worth the effort and the cost?
