2003 1.6 Petrol Eml Light.

Featured Replies

Hello guys, our 2003 1.6 petrol shows it's EM warning light on the dash, but it's intermittent. Are there any known causes, or if it needs a diagnosis is a Ford specialist required?

Thanks.

you need a diagnostic session but it doesnt need to be ford, any garage can do it, heck even you can do it. Depends how quick you need it fixing...

I'd get an OBD reader (my dad got one from ebay for about £15) and look at what the fault code is yourself. I've got a 1.8 mk1 focus which keeps throwing up an EML randomly and code for a front o2 sensor, thankfully it didn't do that during its MOT!

Thanks fellas,

Bizarrely, I thought it was too old to have codes for faults.

I'll get it read.

Petrols in the EU all have to be OBD2 compliant from 2001. OBD is very basic though, the code may be specific and need Ford diags but cheapest to try yourself first of course!
