Featured Replies

Hi any help would be much appriciated, i own a ford focus 1.8 tdci 2007 the problem started about 3 weeks ago when after the car running fine for about an hour on a fast moving A road as i slowed down to approach a round about i dropped into 3rd as a put my foot down i lost 95% of power thinking i may be in to high of a gear i droped into 2nd then 1st but the same problem i was going 5mph max with my foot flat on the accelarator the revs were slowly going up but usualy having the car in 1st with full throttle should sound like the engine is about to blow surely??? I turned off the ignition and restarted the car and it was fine, this has since happend twice since then exact same scinario approching a roundabout at speed breaking dropping down gears then boom no power and will return to normal after turning key off and on, thanks for any help

get your fault codes checked to see what error messages are coming up.

some garages will charge you for this but if you have a smartphone then download the torque app and buy a bluetooth obd2 adapter from ebay (£5) and check for it yourself and post the outcome on here

not another 1800 diesel

No codes come up, a month or to ago i had a turbo pipe split n changed whilst it was split tho the was really rich mix going threw loads of black smoke etc, could this have something to do with like with the egr system like the valve being blocked up after trying to recyle a rich mix n a build up of soot? Im no mechanic so this is just a random hitch

And as for the fuel injectors i do use redex cleaner stuff every other time i fill up so would that not rule them out? As for the fuel filter that is something i will have to look at, thanks

At that age it may be worth taking the EGRV off & cleaning it or just blank it & have no more problems with it

Yeh thats the plan to blank it off spoke to friend today n he basicaly finished my sentence off as he was having the same problem with his 1.6 focus he blanked his off n problem solved apprently, just thought i would get some second opinions incase it could be something else more serious
