Street Ka Roof Refurb

Featured Replies

hi guys i hope this helps

if any off you have green mould or any stains on there roof they cannot remove.  I would recommend getting this stuff,

BLACK CONVERTIBLE ROOF CANVAS DYE / SOFT TOP REVIVER RESTORER COLOUR - 500ML

on ebay at £7.95 and works a treat as you can see from my images below, and if anyone is struggling to replace rear window i can help with that too

I'll be looking to do both when I can afford it. Thanks!

Looks great thanks for sharing photos.   Was it easy to apply and how did you go about evenly applying it?  Is it easy enough to apoly evenly without leaving patches?

Did you then need to re-proof it again once the dye had dried to keep the water off and does it colour run at all once it rains following applying the dye?

Tempted to buy some for the price so any feedback is appreciated?

Thanks

personally i'd get down halfords and get the autoglym soft top restoration

painting over the green moss isn't ideal - need to thoroughly clean first

then the second treatment helps seal the roof

i'll dig out my guide for when i did my pug

JJ

Thanks problemchild 😎

Yes I have sInce tried the auto glym and it's didn't do much.  Ordered and received my bottle of the dye so it will be my project over the next few weeks.  Thanks for the details

I've just used the Renovo products and, boy, do I wish I hadn't. The cleaner seemed to work well enough but the reviver is a nightmare. It's like water, runs everywhere and really difficult to get off glass and paintwork and it will definitely get on both. Worse is the fact that it is impossible not to get an overlap mark if you do as instructed and paint half the roof at a time. Frankly, my soft top looked better before I treated it. I wish I'd just used the cleaner and ultra proofer and hadn't bothered with the reviver.

Hi Mike

Ah okay that's worrying thanks for the info though,  I am a little reluctant to try it now as really dont want to mess it up and I may just try again with the other half of the autoglym kit instead.

Thanks

Saxosim. If you check out some of the reviews of Renovo online, you'll see some pics of the problems of overlap that other users have  experienced. I wish I'd checked them first!

Thanks Mike wish I had read the reviews before buying the renovo but thanks I think I won't use it and will stick to the cleaner and proofer approach instead.

the autoglym is only as good as the amount of time you spend scrubbing with the sponge

doing it in this heat is prob not recommended

may do mine this weekend

JJ

Yes thanks going to spend much more time next time I apply it in a few weeks.  Thanks 😎

many different view on this, like i say i tried the auto glym stuff and it didnt shift how bad my roof was thats why I went for dye in the end, in terms of getting on paintwork i used old tools round edges and a small brush, putting the paint in a curry tray.

We did ours in sections i.e round back window, passenger side of roof, and then drivers side, but we did do it all in one go, we never let it dry and then did another part.

I hope this helps guys,  I should state I did change our back window after we dyed as ours was cracked
