Fan Fail?

My 2006, 1.6 Duratorq has developed an overheating problem, but only when stuck in traffic.

I suspect the electric fan is not cutting in, has anyone had a similar problem? Is there a temperature switch associated, or is the fan controlled by the computer?

I have tried to get a workshop manual since I bought the car, but to no avail.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hi

fan is usually controlled by a thermostatic switch mounted on or near the radiator or top hose(normally has two wires connected)

if wires are shorted then fan should run.

check fuses and also relay 12 first though
