2005 Focus Driver footwell very hot

Hi, apologies if I'm posting in wrong place. 

I recently got a 2005 Focus but have noticed that the side of the centre console in drivers footwell and underside of steering column get very hot after 20-30 minutes of driving.  The heater and A/C and fans are all working fine and there doesn't appear to be any leaks etc. Any suggestions to cause and what can be done to sort it and should I be worried?
