Radio wiring

Featured Replies

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I've just recently fitted a new double din radio in my car....focus titanium 2010....radio is connected to 12v+ switched and the batt 12v+. Everything works fine except radio will not work with ignition off and looses any preset radio stations. Original radio worked fine in the fact you press power and get 1 hour before it turns off. Is the batt 12v controlled by the  canbus. Does it require a signal command to activate it. Any help will be much appreciated as scratching my head a bit

Did you use a Ford specific loom adaptor or a generic one from say Halfords etc?

A Halfords one also states as for Vauxhall but they use a reversed ignition and permanent live feeds.

If you swap the wires around in the quadlock the problem is usually solved.

This is how it should be arranged on a Ford quadlock-

As a side note, my radio does not turn on with ignition off, but will remain running if the "auto off" time is lengthened (android head unit).

The Battery +12 on the Mk2a Focus comes direct from the battery via fuse F112 (F58 on older cars). No switching in the car.

Check the pin connections like Clive suggests, if the Battery live is there on pin 15 as in Clives pics, then I would say the radio is faulty.
