2003 Ghia ABS light problem.

Hi guys, need an answer to this as no-one seems to give me a definite answer anywhere or isn't reading what I've posted.😁 Maybe someone can help!

I've got a 2003 2.0 ghia with abs and traction control as standard. The ABS light does not come on when started up, all other check lights operate normally on the dash, traction control etc. Is it meant to illuminate and then go off as a self test?

The car passed the mot last June with no comments by the tester that the light does not illuminate on ignition and then goes off. And no fail for this fault.

The abs system works perfectly, no faults, and no problems since day one.

The abs light in the cluster works, and all functions are ok when performing the self test (holding down the trip button etc) The dash circuitry appears to be free of corrosion, again, all bulbs work.

The abs motor pump works and functions as it should.

So. Is the light meant to come on to perform a self test on ignition and go off? Or only illuminates when there is a fault?

One owner of an identical focus says it's normal and his mot tester passed his car also so it must be the particular model and year-is there anyone else with the same model that can answer? Cheers in advance, this is driving me beserk. 😂😂
