Ford Focus Mk2 instrument cluster digital reading.

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone

I have another Ford ?. The digital part of my instrument cluster is displaying incorrect fuel readings.

The back ground. I drove the car last night and went to fuel it up. At the petrol station it was saying 28 miles to empty both parts of the cluster was showing low. Ie the needle and digital part.

I put £5 in the car and it was still showing 28 miles to empty on the digi part, the needle had moved to the centre of the quarter mark of the cluster.

Can anyone advise me as to what is going on???

Thanks in advance for any advise

The cluster is one single digital unit, so the tank sensor reading is digitised, and the processor then drives the needles via stepper motors, and also updates the LCD. So it is a bit of a mystery why they differ. Maybe not enough was added to reset the LCD reading. £5 is under 5l, which is about half a division, as it shows.

The 2006 Focus Cluster is notorious for bad connections on the main connector on the pcb, but this does not stack up well with the problem that you show.

I suggest putting at least half a tank in, to see if that changes it.

Just an update on my issue . I put £10 more in the car and Tdci-Peter was correct there not enough fuel in the car for the cluster to pick it up.

Thanks very much for your help in this matter. IMG_0993.JPG
