Juddering through steering

CMax, 116k, Automatic

Problem: Juddering through steering wheel especially under strain around 20 - 30 mph

Diagnosis: Driveshaft fault, new driveshaft fitted.

Outcome: Juddering all but eliminated, however there is still mild judder at around 30 mph especially under strain.

Conclusion: Mechanic suggests gearbox issue may be cause of driveshaft fault and would require stripping gearbox.

 

This sounds expensive and for something  that might not actually cure the issue, i was hoping anyone could shed any light on this please? Is stripping the gearbox expensive? Could this be the cause of the juddering?
