Which C-Max most reliable?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Thinking of buying a Focus C-Max, just a runaround car. Year 2004-2006, will be looking at a couple of them, that are under 80000 miles.

The question is, which engine variant is the most reliable?

So far I have heard to stay away from 1.8 petrol, and that 1.6 petrol is fairly reliable.

However reading further, seems like many people say they have this tendency of going into limp mode?

Also, what about diesels? I read they are not too good with their turbos?

Also, maybe a silly question, but is 1.6 petrol variant turbocharged?

Ideally I do not need a diesel as do lots of local driving and use the car for 2 days a week, do less then 5000 miles per year. But then again, will look into them if they are more reliable.

Any advice appreciated, thank you!

With your mileage don't get a diesel, you could have allsorts of EGR and DPF problems, sorry I don't know much about the petrols but the 1.6 seems ok check out the focus forum for problems as it's the same engine.

go for the 1.6 petrol . 1.8 burns oil. avoid the diesels.

Yes, seems so far 1.6 petrol is the best bet.
Could someone tell me if this engine is turbocharged or not?
