Brake trouble!

Featured Replies

My mk3 mondeo has recently had new brakes fitted all around with new calipers on the rear. When it came to bleed it, it became evident that it required a new master cylinder because the seal had popped.

Got a master cylinder second hand and fitted and bled the system... Can't get a brake pedal! It has had a pressure bleeder and a vacuum bleeder on separately and at the same time and it has also been bled manually. The ABS pump has been operated manually and that works too.

2 weeks of trying later and still the same.. so back to basics. New calipers fitted and a brand new master cylinder arriving today.

Engine off = firm pedal

Engine running = spongy pedal

Rear brake hose clamped = firm pedal and drives fine

Unclamped = spongy pedal.

Any ideas?

Cheers
