TPMS problems (still)

Featured Replies

Hi, I have an 08 Mondeo estate Zetec. There's been a problem with the TPMS system for ages, but since I had a new valve fitted a few weeks back, I now get a red warning to check tyre pressure that I can't dismiss. Therefore I can't see my distance to empty, fuel consumption etc. I don't want to pay out the £150 per tyre I've been quoted to fix it - I'm an old-fashioned type that regular checks tyre pressure anyway. I'd rather not have the whistles and bells!

So I bought a TPMS bypass box from ebay and it doesn't work. I've tried two different ones but they won't talk to  my car. My question is, if I were to buy TMPS sensors frm a scrapped Mondeo would my system learn to recognise them? Or can anyone suggest another solution? My auto electrician seems to think there's nothng they can do and Ford main dealers have told me the same, but it seems unlikely that there's no way to turnoff the system on a ten year old car - it was a luxury when it was fitted and is not a requirement for the MOT since the car is so old. All help gratefullly received. Many thanks!

They will learn after a while.
