Replace Spare (No Button) keyfob

Featured Replies

I had a look but couldn't see a similar topic in the search.  If i've missed something, please let me know.

I have a spare key for my 2008 Fiesta.  It's the standard "no remote" access key.   Unfortunately the key split apart when I tried to unlock the car and I am trying to find a replacement fob,

Everywhere is telling me i have to spend £70-£100 to replace the whole key (cut the blank, program the transponder) etc,  which seems ludicrous since I have all the parts.  I have the transponder and the fully functional blade,  i just need a new plastic home for it to sit in.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or should I just accept that Ford have me over a barrel (Pun not intended) where this is concerned?

You can buy blank keys off ebay and just swap the transponder over.

Worst you may need is the blade cutting.

Have you tried glueing the key together?

I'd recommend hot glue rather than superglue or any other cryanoacetate types as they will melt the plastic.
