Can I treating slightly rusted coil springs with Waxoyl Rustproofing Aerosol for Cars

Featured Replies

Dear All

I saw my coil springs are slightly rusted? Should I wire brush and apply Waxoyl Rustproofing Aerosol or just not bother

I tried Waxoyl Rustproofing Aerosol before it looks like a thick waxy. If I applied that, will it mislead the MOT tester. He might think that thick waxy is like oil leaking?

Thanks

Personally I wouldn't bother because the paint will crack then the rain gets in the cracks, winter freezing conditions cause the moisture to expand which then widens the cracks causing the paint to flake and cavitations then help to increase the decaying,

If/when changing the springs choose eibach pro lowering springs which are already powder coated different springs depending on engine, mines a diesel which is heavier than a petrol takes a different set but there all gloss black powder coated.

They were an optional extra still available through ford or from eibach, the ride height isint too low and the stance of the car looks better as it drops the rear a bit to level out the window sill,

Also increased mpg and handling makes if more fun to drive.
