MK7 Fiesta glovebox light stays on whilst closed.

Featured Replies

Glovebox lights always on unless car is locked. Any ideas? Thinking of just taking Bulb out and leaving it. Happened before and had it fixed and now happening again. Slightly worried as last time it burnt a hole in a cleaning cloth. Thanks

I was going to say that would be my concern too, I know they can melt the housing/wiring if left on as this is what happened in a the infamous Zafira fires.

i would look for the switch that should be activated when the glove box closes, it must not be getting pushed. It may be that it has been bent if the box was full and jammed close previously. Try taking the door off it and seeing if you can identify it.

the switch needs to line up with the screw on the glove box to activate said switch. try closing the glove box whilst tugging it left or right to try to get the screw and switch to line up. if it works just remember to close the box in that manner in future. that's what I do.
