hello all, so i have a ford s max, it died on me a few weeks ago, i left it sat for a few days and then all of a sudden it started working again, a few days of running fine it completely died again.

i bought a cable to scan the car with forscan, i have the error code p0087, i changed the fuel filter and noticed when i took the old filter out that the filter hosuing had about 1/3rd of fuel in the filter housing.

i filled the housing with diesel when i changed the fuel filted and it started up revved then completely died. so i though it must be a pump in the fuel tank, however i have just ordered one and it dont seem to have a pump on it just a level sensor...

my inital thought was that it was pumping fuel from the tank to the fuel filter.

however now i dont know whats going on, does anyone have any ideas?

im hopping its not going to be the high pressure fuel pump, and i thought i could have ruled that out because every time ive managed to get the car started it would rev up fine ect, and also there was about 3 days where the car ran fine after dying, if anyone has any suggestions of what to try i would be extremely greatful!

There is no pump in the tank its all ran of high pressure pump. The housing would of been that full due to a soaking wet fuel filter in there making up the rest of the room. Did u replace the o ring in the lid? Make sure the filter is literally brimmed, then you have to prime or suck to fuel from the tank to the filter. If u look on here I did a write up of how I do mine
