2107 diesel - battery query

Featured Replies

I have a 2017 Focus diesel with a PS box. It’s on its original battery and it seems to be a Varta EFB 75ah. I have a volt reader in my 12V socket and when the ignition is off it reads around 12.3V and when I return the next day it often reads around 11.8V. When I start the online it can drop to 10.6V and when driving it can range anywhere from 12.8 up to 14.4V, more often than not it is around high 13V.

I have nothing that is non standard that is drawing power when the car is parked up, my dash cam is usually turned off when parked up.

I connected my NOCO battery charger to it this evening and set it to ‘cold/agm’ expecting the 25%,50% &75% lights to come on steady with three 100% light flashing which would indicate the battery was somewhere between 75-100% - the monitor in the 12V socket displayed 12.2V with the ignition off and I had just done a 15mile drive. The 25% light was the only when lit and it was pulsing which would indicate the battery is below 25%!

I’m not sure what any of this means really, the car is in for service tomorrow at an independent garage so I will ask them to check the health of the battery but if anyone has any info they could share before I do that would be great.

TIA

Thank you for this useful image.

Goes to show the battery doesn’t need to drop by much to be in poor shape! I will give it a full charge as soon as it comes home from its service.
