Ford focus LX coolant leak into spark plugs?!

Featured Replies

I have a Ford focus lx 07 with a zetec se engine.

Last week the car was juttering and the engine light started flashing. Checked and cylinder 3 was misfiring. Pulled out spark plugs and they were covered in gunk oil/water mixture.

Got RAC out and they told me it was the head gasket.

Took it to my local garage and they told me it was core plugs that needed replaced.

They've replaced them and told me they had flushed coolant and oil and replaced.

Picked car up tonight and it's juttering after repair and engine light now stays on. Checked spark plugs when I got home and the cylinders are immersed in water and coolant level has dropped below minimum (it was full when I picked car up)

What could be causing this?

was there any engine coolant loss?

…. you may have been misled and ripped off.... water can get past the badly positioned drivers (right) washer jet and after a while it builds up hidden out of sight between the cams and its plastic cover...

when you get a puddle here after about 2 pints and the plug leads are old it causes them to breakdown and fail (with a big misfire and eml on).... it might take the coil out with it... 60 quid for leads and coil it might drive better than it ever has in last 10k miles
