58 focus 1.6 petrol - acceleration reduced fault

Hi guys, I have a 58 plate focus titanium 1.6 petrol and its got an issue with the warning message "acceleration reduced". No EML or obd codes picked up, symptoms are:

"The car went funny today and the car started to slow down and it came up with a warning - acceleration reduced. I stopped, turned it off and on again and it hasn’t come up again."

"I have to put my foot down to get the revs up but while I’m doing that it’s going slow then suddenly it kicks in and starts going" 

Any idea what this could be? It returns after being turned on and off, it also runs a bit lumpy on idle
