St-3 tdci oil temp gauge

Featured Replies

Hi i just got an ST tdci and i noticed the oil temp rises slighty past 100°c it doesn't cool down until i stop the car is it normal for the oil temp to go that high ? Sorry for the post i'm a newb

Ford performance cars tend to run cooler than the competition. My RS sits mainly at 75 and sometimes a bit over the first line (80+). Now if I start to exceed 2500 rpm and constantly drive between 3000 and 3500 the car will get close to 100 centigrade.

When I drive for longer periods between 4000 and 6000 rpm the gauge will climb halfway between 100 and the first line following the mid point.

If I track the car I will often end up higher than the above mentioned values.

Oil viscosity is measured at two values : 40 centigrade and 100 centigrade. So having your oil sit nicely at 100 is nothing to worry about.

I always cool my car down once I drove it hard. I never exceed 2500 in this process and I drive 15-20 minutes until the gauge is back to 75.
