Synch 3 Android Auto

Featured Replies

Hi All I have joined this forum out of desperation basically...

I have a 2017 focus ST with synch 3

Android auto has never worked properly on it, sometimes it is stable for an hour sometimes it cuts out every 2 minutes and you have to plug it back in again.

Sometimes I get communication error 12 (not every time) which I am led to believe relates to cable, so basically I have tried every high quality USB on the market!

I have tried it was a variety of Samsung S7s and S9 to no affect, re-installed software countless times....

I have tried my phone and cable on a different car (Vauxhall Adam) and it worked fine.

The car has been to a couple of dealers and they have done multiple software related things but ultimately they say they cannot find an issue.

Has anybody had this issue? And more than that has anybody managed to fix it?

Sorry that I have joined just to ask a tech question but I am at my wits end!

I love the car and everything else about it but this is just so annoying as when it does work it is a great feature.

Thanks so much for any help/input

Ben

The last Samsung I had was S5 and it wasn't great with android auto. I did blame both android auto and Ford. After a similar thread on here recently I tried AA again. I have an Honor 9 lite phone now, and it pretty much works flawlessly and instantly.

Maybe worth asking someone with a non Sammy to let you try. Other than having menus with Spotify on AA I personally prefer my bog standard sync 3 though.

My s8 works great with my sync 3 in my 2017 focus.

I'm running One UI and the latest sync3 build. I use an Anker USB-C cable.

Which USB socket do you plug into? I use the one in the armrest, never tried the one under the dials.

I'm sure you've tried using the USB cable that came with phone but just in case you haven't then I'd recommend doing that first

Thanks for you replies, my friend just got an honour so may try that.

I think it is the latest synch 3 as the dealer said that they updated it.

It does not seem to make a difference what port though.

Yeah I have tried the original cable and also anker no luck...thanks for you input though
