GPS week number roll over fun

Luckily I don't think Ford systems won't suffer. I got a letter through the post about the wifes Renault, the R-link is one of the devices that need the update. As far as I can see it's going to be a similar update to the one I just did on my Sync3

TMC may play up?....  would be nice if its not an issue on ford. An explanation of why everything's going to go wrong is is the last link of the first post.  This time its a real issue like the millennium bug was expected to be, but wasn't.

Some Merc clocks have already lost the plot.

I hadn't heard of this before, quite interesting!

Cant remember the last time I used my sat nav though, bought it in Jan 2017 as an upgrade for my 2009 model but it was so bad I only used it a handful of times.  Hopefully the next car I but will have built in Nav...

I’m using the latest build on my Sync3 and will be installing the F8 maps tomorrow so hopefully I’ll avoid any issues

I checked fords site for updates to my sisters Sync 1.1 yesterday.

oddly all the files came out with a new 11 March 2019 date...   but looking they appear to be identical to the update flies in 9 March 2018 last year and the errors in the install files are still there.

yesterday's file was called SYNC1.1_768935024_Update

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know if the LS RNS sat nav in my 11 plate MK2 is going to be affected by the week rollover issue? There's very little info out there about this. I guess just wait and see now as we're only a few days off. But if it is, does anyone know if it can be updated?

Cheers. I'll update this post if I find anything or with news on Saturday.

navigation should work no issues on all devices

Reading more, it seems some manu cottoned on to the issue and may have fixed post 2010 devices so they can cope.

If older, then things like traffic updates or the car's clock (if it runs off the sat signal) will have issues.  the impact already came in to play on Mercedes over the last year

The Renault R-Link is definitely affected, even the 2018 builds needed to be patch updated.

I've even had a "one-off" update file for my 10 year old TomTom device from TomTom.

I wonder how the emergency services are prepared for this, with the multitude of devices they may have with GPS built in...
