2008 1.6d heater blowing hot

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have a 2008 1.6d estate, the heater only blows hot air, is there a heater control valve on the focus? if so i cannot find one on ebay/amazon etc.

The heater matrix is constant flow so always hot.  It's the diverter flaps inside the HVAC box that control how much hot air is mixed with fresh cold air.  Do you have manual heater knobs or electronic climate control?

I have manual heater knobs which don't seem to be loose at all. I have noticed that the A/C is on every time i start the car, so i have to turn it off each time the car is started. only just got the car.

Ok well that makes it a bit easier than climate control.  There is just a physical metal cable on the back of the temperature dial that directly pulls the flaps.  First thing to do would be to remove the dials fascia and see if the cable has snapped.

Thanks, will check that out.

This is normal if the control is set to send air to the screen. It's done to de-humidify the air to clear the screen quicker. If you put the control to face vents and footwells you should find it stays off.

I have removed fascia and there is no cable on the back of the heater control knob, I can see where something should fit on the back of the ratchet type knob, but I can't see where the other end of cable would go. does anyone know what the part number or description would be?
