Help Identifying Broken Hose

Featured Replies

Car came back from the garage after having had gear linkage replace with a hose broken - see circled in red in photo (Different car not mine). There is about a 5inch chunk missing from it. Can anyone help me identify what this hose is for and how important it is please? Most importantly is it safe to drive until I can get it fixed.... Thanks

Not that was noticed, came back and it looked broken, touched it and part of it fell of in hand. Fairly sure it would have noticed if was like it before...

This shows the break at each end, one end looks quite clean as if cut....?
