Focus died when idling then comes back to life.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

wonder if anyone can shed any light, Ive been having some problems with my 2010 Ford Focus zetec petrol.

it sometimes radomly dies like all the electrics, radio etc shut off and instantly come back to life, today was sitting at the traffic lights and the whole car cut off and came back to life I had to restart to engine? I’m just wondering if it could be a fuel Injector or somthing as the car sometimes slightly vibrates during idling not all the time though.

Its been in the ford specialist to have a new auxiliary belt and i mentioned the vibrations and he said there was no fault codes on the diagnostic, but I forgot to mention the car cutting out as it only happened a few times in the last 6 months but today as I said the whole engine cut out Aswell.

any ideas

cheers.

if all electrics eg radio go off I can't see how it can be fuel injector. sounds more like a faulty electrical connection. If the engine stopped due to something like an injectotr fault I am sure the radio would not go off.

Same as Isetta, definitely not injectors, nor Aux belt. If the alternator stops turning, the battery will power the car, and can do so for hours in normal driving.

It has to be a major wiring connection, like the feed from the battery to the main fusebox, or one of the main earth connections.
