Ford focus mk2 bonnet key stolen

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I have a little situation going on and would like to know what options I have. I have a ford focus mk2, 07 plate, when I got the car it had a different key than the ignition one to open the bonnet. Only had one, and unfortunately got stolen. Now I can't open the bonnet. Is there anyway to open my bonnet without the key? Don't mind ruin the lock as I would replace it.

Have you got a 10mm spanner?

To more more or less quote another member from here, steve77 from 2011:

You can get your hand up there with a 10mm spanner or 10mm socket to undo the 2 bolts that hold the lock to the car, its tight but it can be done as i have succesfully done this only 2 months ago when it happened to mine,

1: Undersheild off

2: Make sure car is jacked up on axle stands (so you have room)

3: Reach up between radiator and engine block

4: Feel the 2 10mm nuts that hold lock on and remove the 2 nuts

5: Get out from under the car and you will need to tug the bonnet a little then hey presto bonnet undone...

6: Seperate bonnet catch fromk the lock removed and replace or fix....

That's exactly what I did when my lock stopped working, it's a bit of a fiddle but does work.

It's easier if you unbolt the radiator and swing it a bit gains more room.
