Focus MK2 1.8TDCI drivers seat

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My car has today failed its MOT because there is movement in the drivers seat.

The bolts into the floor are all fine.

However, when I move the seat via the headrest, the left had side of the seat lifts up.

The right hand side is fine, it still slides back and forward fine also.

And ideas that I could potential fix myself?

I have found a drivers seat on eBay in good condition for £35. Would the seat generally come with the runners connected, so it would simply be a case of taking the old one out and putting the "new" one in its place?

Or could I simply just replace the runners?

Virtually all the used seats I've seen on ebay come with the runners attached but definitely double check with the seller.  I recently swapped out all the seats in my wife's MK2.5 Zetec for the black half leathers out of a MK2.

The front seats a really easy:

  • Remove the security bolt for the airbag connector (look under the front of the seat)
  • Separate the airbag connector/loom
  • Undo the 4 bolts fixing it to the floor of the car
  • Shift the old seat out
  • And reverse the above steps to complete.
