Cruise Control has stopped working

We have a 2013 B-Max and had it serviced prior to passing it on to a family member.  It came back from the Ford service with the Cruise Control not working; dead.  Our replacement car is a 2017 B-Max which was provided by a Ford dealer complete with a service.  Having just collected it, we've discovered the Cruise Control is not working on that car either!  Both now booked in for checking, but I suspect an unrecorded SW update from Ford may be the cause since the cars were (Ford) serviced at different locations so unlikely to be Mechanic induced.  I will update when I have the garage's solution, but thought it worth recording here and interested if any other Forum users have any ideas or comments.
