Water Pump Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all

new to this site so sorry if this is posted in the wrong section!!

Just wondered if anyone can advise me if a water pump failing on a 2002 focus 1.8tdci would cause other problems? the car made a horrible noise from the cam belt area then stopped.

as we have only just brought the car we asked the garage we bought it from to either repair replace or refund eventually ther agreed to collect the car & investigate the problem, they have just called & said they think it maybe the water pump would this cause other problems as i fear they may refuse to repair or refund.

thanks

for a start a failed pump can cause head gasket issues as the engine over heats it depoends on wether the pump ceased or failed and wether its run by the fan belt or in some cars the cambelt it can cause the cambelt in this instance to snap ift the pump breaks up and ceases depends how long the pumps been this way sounds to me like the cambelts gone in which case the valves would be smashed and needing replaced i would ask for a refund to be honest and let them have the car back thats an honest answer
